Has anyone used a Thule Venture trunk mounted bike rack on their 228i?

We need a trunk mounted bike rack for our 228i and I can get a Thule Venture #933 rack at a great price. Does anyone have one of these Thule racks and if yes, does it attach easily and is it as good as the reviews?

I have a Thule Raceway 991 and while it fits it isn't secure, as all of the wire cable for the top hooks was completely wound in and it couldn't go further and remained loose. The 933 has fabric straps so if they can be wound in and be tight, should be no reason why you cant use it, as most of the weight sits on the bummer. Thule do have a tool so you can check if it fits your model.

Thanks for the quick reply, it is greatly appreciated.

I did try using the Thule fit tool and the 228i was not recognized.

I believe that you are correct about the ability to really tighten the fabric straps and I will keep my fingers crossed that it will be ok.

By the way, I have seen online little pads to use with the hooks to prevent scratching the paint. Have you ever used them and if yes, do they work?

The hooks on the 991, are plastic coated completely, so no metal to metal contact. I always clean these and the small area of the car paint they will be sat on, so that any dust / dirt doesn't become a mini sandpaper point! They aren't large hooks and look to rely on the contact point to engage safely on the car, you could cover them with masking tape, but I wouldn't use something to thick as when tight they shouldn't move. Hope this helps.
