Hi All

I am expecting delivery of a new BMW F44 218 Auto Grand Coupe Motor Sport at the end of this month, all going well, I decided to order in the new Skyscraper Grey! as it was only available from July I believe? I haven't seen that colour in the flesh as yet! so hope I have made the right decision.

Hello,
Nice body colour choice, did you stick with the standard interior colour?

I am sure it will be worth the wait for the motor, I am delighted with my car economy is excellent just back from a trip up to Orkney to visit our daughter and car was a pleasure to drive and is very refined and the adaptive LED headlights with HBA really came into their own in rural Orkney where single track roads with passing places are the norm.

Black with grey stitching, it’s a safe bet that it will keep its appearance and you won’t regret the choice, privacy glass is a must makes a big difference in cabin temp on a hot day and looks great with the frameless windows

I thank you sir for your comment on age, but old driver 60 is now 63 and a retiree! but it’s true I still feel & do daft things from time to time much to the exasperation of my better half

Hi Olddriver60

You are just a Pup compared to me! I'm 77 years young and still buying new cars, after all what else is there to do at my age!

Well What a day to collect my new car! flooded roads and traffic accidents (not me) all the way back home! But it's sitting in my garage now safe and well, l feel at home again driving this car, unlike the Cupra Formentor I had. Must be my age has something to do with it
Haven't had a chance as yet to get a good photo of it the proper way round?

Skyscraper grey Colour looks superb,

The weather was appalling this morning in my neck of the woods (Ayr) so I can imagine your trepidation driving new car home, anyway you’ve got the excitement of running the car in and enjoying to look forward to once this friggen rain stops

Cheers

Thanks Youngdriver60
You know what its like with the first drive in your new car, your seat is not in the right position, the steering wheel could be closer and the mirrors have to be moved! all this while the torrential rain, and heavy traffic to cope with! so you don't want to take my eyes off the road for a minute. But all adjusted when I got back home. The dealer I picked the new car up from is a BMW Dealership in Stirling, I live in the Hamilton area, you will know the road from Stirling to Hamilton I'm talking about! I am delighted with the Gran Coupe despite some poor reports you read!

Quartetrbill,
Indeed I do know the road between Stirling and Hamilton, it’s a rat race on a fine day but yesterday would have been a trifle tense for you with the weather

The majority of the 2 series GC reviews I’ve seen on you tube etc have been very positive, the F44 is definitely a car that needs to be seen in the “metal” to appreciate the lines, I particularly like the frameless doors with the sun protection glass, I specified park assist to get the reversing camera but I’ve started to use the parking assistant quite often, still freaks me out that the car is doing all the movement with zero input from me other than keeping my foot hovering over the brake pedal just in case it all goes haywire !

For me the transition from a RWD F30 (2018 318i sport auto) to a FWD car has been overwhelmingly positive the sure footedness of a well set up FWD car in the real world of 2021 roads in this country being very welcome, BMW have certainly engineered the F44 to a new level for a FWD car

Forecast is for drier weather by Wednesday of this coming week so you should be able to enjoy some autumn sunshine in you new wheels

Cheers

I stuck to the BMW running in recommendation for the first 1500 miles gradually using more of the performance thereafter

Hopefully the weather
