128ti or M135i?

Hi F40 folks!
I am actually looking to replace my 2019 Golf 1.5 TSi with something more sporty. The 128ti kept my attention. The car will be our family car and I wanted to know if someone was able to compare the ride quality of the M135i vs the 128ti? My only concern is if the car is too harsh. Otherwise I am sure it will be a good uprgade after the Golf.
Thx in advance for your help!

The step to the TSi will be night and day from your golf mate, good choice if your not really into going all out.

If you can find a deal for an m135i than go for it. It will retain the value over the years way better than the Ti.

If you are leasing the car then the difference will be less than u think, at least in Switzerland is like this.
You pay almost the same per month.

An 120d was quoted more expensive than the 135i per month, due the lost of value of the car over the years.

Thank you, you are right... I will ask for an offer and then decide. But it is very interesting...

Do you know what is exactly the M Performance Packet? Seems to delete all practical stuff in the boot (which is important for me because I have 2 kids and I plan to use the car for vacation when possible).
Thx in advance !

Its a stupid package from bmw. They removed the normal trunk floor to remove weight.... LOL

You have then a bigger trunk but I miss the normal floor anyways.

But soon or later you will find on an salvage f40.

So don't let be the point to make you think twice

Cheers

Thank you for your feedback!
I will go for a M135i in Melbourne Red without Perf package since all the cool features are deleted. AWD will have better resale value in Switzerland plus the car seems to be a little more comfortable than the 128ti. Have to discuss the deal with my dealership tomorrow (They have to take my Golf back).

Thx! I live in Sion. I can have 23% of discount + KCH 3 of « prime reprise » and 0.9% leasing here. So my spec is KCHF 55 instead of KCHF 76 if I count the « prime reprise ». Not a bad deal... with 0.— down payment the car would cost 500.— per month. The 128ti is 425.— per month so the gap is to close to buy the 28ti (plus as you said the 35i will resale easyer).

We liked the car. The Golf is a good city car. The M135i has « long trips » abilities and is a premium vehicle btw. Even on passive suspension the car is very compliant.
They let me try a new car (150kms on the clock) so I didn't push it but I am confident it has enough power for us. My idea is now to go for a Perf package with adaptative suspensions. Still debating for the sunroof.

Great choice. I would also like to have the adaptive suspension but was not available with 19wheels.
Still the non adaptive suspension is firm but not uncomfortable.

So I hope sooner or later we have other 135i around us.

Do you know if M135i are delivered with runflats? I didn't find any specific info on bmw.ch. Plus I just find that there is an optional « performance tire » with the 18 inches. Maybe PS4S tires?

They are not delivered with runflats in France (19"). I was told this was something to do with emissions. Mine was delivered with Bridgestone Potenza S005

However, the winter tyres (18") ordered at BMW are continental runflats.

Thank you! It is better not to have runflats on these sporty cars (especially on summer tires)

Mine is on 19" wheels and the roads here are terrible. The ride is not too bad and I am glad I opted for them as it looks so much better. Compared to my JCW with adaptive and 18" it is more comfortable and is only trumped by my 8 Series that being bigger and more sophisticated had a better ride. The M135i is better than both though for hustling around the lanes. So far only missing the fully autonomous driving of the 8, but that did not work very well anyway on UK roads compared to NL and DEU. If I was still in The Netherlands the 19" wheels would be no problem at all, as I said even here in UK not as bad as I feared.
