Except for the hood line... it’s great.

I gotta admit, that looks mighty fine from the side view. With a dark tint and some wheel spacers it would be downright hot.

I think the reviewers hated it because they were all comparing it to the M340i or 240i. But they forget that this was aimed at people who wanted a step up from a Honda Accord. Not a step down from an M3.

And yes, I'll agree a FWD hatch short wheel base platform like a Mini is fun to drive, but there's just something unnatural about a supposedly fun small "BMW" being FWD.
Fun can be had in FWD or RWD, but there's a reason we prefer RWD.
And why do you come here to piss on the OPs new car and to question whatever he drove before?

It is his money, his choice!

It seems like these days most people are in these forums just to piss on other people’s BMWs and claim their BMW is better.

So what we have learned is times change and history is history no matter how stupid a statement has come from a company and i am pretty sure BMW has changed quite a lot sens then, not only due to harder regulations on them but also because people get replaced on the board of directors. And the newer people wants the brand to go in a different direction, and for better or for worse and most of the time change is good and is needed.

Unfortunately it seems history is quite hard to let go especially at bimmerposts forums, sens people still can't get over the change that has happened to the 4 series even though the 4 series has only existed with the release of the F series car and that was in mid 2013 and the M4 came in around 2014 and that ain't all to long ago.

So if Ford can pull of a crazy as car like the Ford Focus RS is, and i am talking about the previous generation RS with the wonderful diff that it had at the time.

I am quite sure BMW can pull of a FWD based car and the FWD based x-drive that is great fun to drive. And still keep in their lineup of great RWD cars and also cater to the FWD crowd.

And to OP enjoy the car in good health and start modding the car in anyway you want and start spanking those SUV people

This is like if Porsche made a fwd 911, it go against everything the brand tells its customers. And then you have the 4 series where they point to the history of the vertical grille, so are the sticking with the past or abandoning their slogan of the ultimate driving machine.

I am all for change, but I am also willing to call out when BMW oversteps the line and is heading in the wrong direction. I can't stand it when I see a thread full of yes people with no opinion. The thread devolves into an echo chamber.

I never drove the RS, but that car was made for fun and the reviews agree. You look at reviews for the M235i and reviews say its just a car that will get you from A to B. I plan on test driving the M235i next time I'm at the dealer, need to see for myself.

I passed a black one yesterday around noon, sunny day and the lights looked ok but as I saw the side profile..it said absolutely nothing BMW about it, in fact, the side profile looked exactly like a kia. in fact, there was a black kia on the next headlight and I could not help but realize that that kia had better road presence and design than this thing..

Indeed. I have had this now for 2 months almost and it has been a great car around town for my needs. I have waited to be told by some fan boy in public or someone else it is ugly or some other comment. Funny I have heard none. In fact I have had nothing but compliments on it and people asking what model it was. In fact with my arms full today I used the kick function to ajto open the trunk. A guy stopped and said man I thought that feature only on suvs...and that is a great color. So the derivation seems online haters.

Hope you enjoy it. The car is a looker and red suits it quite well. Better put together than the Mercedes Benz A Class

Driving a 1M in Buffalo NY in the winter is as hard core BMW enthusiast as it gets. ApprecIate your write up here and your opinion. Welcome to the south and congrats on your new car. Atlanta traffic vs Buffalo snow is a toss-up

Let's hope the Sabres, ex Canes player and new GM can right the ship.

BTW how did u injure your knee? Driving or other?

I did have snow tires I must admit. I only stayed home from work once when the roads were a sheet of ice. I broke my knee by falling and shattering it; it split in half . I have 6 pins holding it together. I'm a woman who solders on; but a 1m coupe was not the car for my present state. I loved that car but times and people's needs change. I'm just glad that BMW made a car for me that was the right size, the right price and fun to drive. Those of us who own the 2GC are satisfied. We n need to start talking about what fun our cars are. Let others pontificate all they want. We're happy.

Well said - people have different tastes and needs change over time. We don't buy cars to make others happy we buy what we like and thankfully we don't all want the same thing at the same time.

BTW - 10 years in a 6MT E46 is also pretty hard core for a daily and I'm sure many fond memories.

I loved that car. Red of course. It was Japan red BMW individual. Snow tires are wonderful. I only got rid of it because after 10 years of Buffalo winters it was going to cost me quite a bit. I had a hitch my son fabricated for me to haul my small tire trailer and tools. Those were good time but times change. Attached is a picture of my M3 at Watkins Glen. I also did Autox .

That's awesome pic and Watkins Glenn NY ain't too shabby.
Upstate NY has some beautiful driving roads. Finger lakes area - route 17 curvy down along the river. I lost my license back in the day up there thanks to my heavy foot, wide open roads and state troopers with radar guns haha.

To me this looks a lot better than the new 4 series. At least it has a "normal BMW" front.
