2020 Toyota Yaris GR-Four
Holy crap man. On the one hand I'm incredibly sad we wont be getting this car in the states. On the other hand, maybe it's a good thing because I'd legitimately have to think about selling my car to buy one. Yes, i know that's crazy as my car is currently both much nicer and much faster than this thing, but my first car was a Celica All-Trac and i'm a huge sucker for WRC-adjacent vehicles.
It reminds me of a miniature Focus RS, but of course with Toyota build quality. Crucial Details: 268-hp 1.6L 3-cylinder engine AWD with 60:40 torque split normally. Driver can switch to 30:70 or 50:50 modes Just over 2800 lbs Torsen LSD's in both the front and the rear 18-inch forged wheels 6-speed manual only |

Indeed. Can't blame me for having a sense of humor though!
Something about a shitty car pumped up and given enough go fast bits to actually be a competent performance car is just very appealing to me. The M2c never started life as anything NEAR as shitty as a Yaris (even a base 2-series is pretty damn nice) but it's the same concept. |

I'd love to have one of these as a runabout for back roads and bad weather conditions. Just a cool little pocket rocket. Reminds me of 90s Japanese sport compacts that I lusted over as a kid. Like a modern Pulsar GTI-R or Celica GT4.

Yeah, it’s honestly a very unique vehicle. I can’t think of another truly high performance 3-banger, though maybe ford had a somewhat more mild but still decent one? I love how 3-cylinder engines sound.
In addition, plenty of compact cars have been given the “awd-turbo-manual” treatment and they’re all very cool in my book, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that philosophy applied to a true SUB-compact car, despite the WRC having moved on to subcompacts a couple of decades ago. 2800 lbs is absurdly light for a car with this kind of hardware in 2020. My celica weighed 3200 lbs and that was from 1988. The Mazda 323 gtx is the only thing kinda approaching that weight and that had about 130 hp. and like the celica, it’s from the 80s. This thing should have a similar power to weight ratio as an STI. |

petition Toyota to bring it to the USA!!
what a sweet car....but being a homologation special it's probably quite pricey as they usually are. with a manual too...what a car!
