Tail lights on when headlights off
I noticed the other day that my tail lights are on when my headlights are off. The car was in park and I wasn’t pressing the brake. Anyone else’s do this? Maybe it’s a safety feature like DRL

This is the correct operation called rear drl's. If you go into the idrive car settings, exterior lights, you can turn them off. I prefer to have them on but this isn't compulsory in the UK whereas in other countries they are and can't be turned off..

Not really, in all conditions, if it stops someone from rear ending your car then everyone's a winner. Can't see why you are resisting what could potentially be a life saver.

Yes if I turn off my DRL's they also turn off. I have also noticed other newer BMW's with them on. I'm in the USA so I was surprise my car had this. Thank you everyone for the replies.
