Took delivery yesterday

After 3 month wait, got my 220i now 👏

It’s amazing how they set up the driving dynamics on this, seriously sometimes I have it in mind that it’s a rear wheel drive, and then remember it’s a front wheel drive. Still fees more like being pushed away than pulled away.

Can’t really complain about anything. Although initially I felt like the seat height could go a bit lower still. I got the manual adjusting, would be interested if anyone has checked the difference between manual and electric, if they go down to the same height.

Will do the 1k km in the beginning a bit easier, as bmw recommends, although apparently in practice hasn’t made much of a difference doing that, according to the seller 🤔

And the basic sound system is quite amazing for a basic system.
For example the basic Audi one is complete crap, you need the Audi sound system, but this, I don’t feel any need for the upgraded systems.
And I’m pretty big on sound quality.

Had a rental Ford puma a while back with the HK system, at least on that, it was 10x worse than what the BMW basic system is.

Would be interesting to hear about experiences if anyone did any comparisons between the BMW systems and what you thought 🤔

Nice! Now, post some pics once u get home! Looks like mines when i first got it.

As far as audio goes, the basic one isn't bad at all! However from the outside, it makes a lot of rattling/vibrating sounds when you go past 60%. The HK isn't "that much" better, but the quality is definitely there so IMO, HK is always worth it. The highs are more crisp and and tighter bass with the HK, not to mention it has an advanced EQ feature screen that the basic sound system doesnt come with. We just get the basic Bass/Tremble/Fade

However i believe the bimmercode allows you to add that feature?

Harman Kardon is actually a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics. I don't remember that Ford's have ever had Harman Kardon sound systems and their current range use B&O..

Ah true, B&O it was. Somehow had HK etched in my mind 🤔
In any case, for a branded system it had nothing on the BMW basic one

My 2GC has HK and I also drive a fiesta with B&O and I frankly think there's not a lot in it. But then I only listen to BBC Radio 6 anyway...

Sweet ride, I got the same color. Definitely looks really nice driving down the road.

I was checking the ride height, as it seems a bit high compared to other m sports I’ve seen, and I compared it directly with another used 218i m sport, and indeed mine seemed to be about 1 cm higher 🤔

It’s specced with the m sport suspension. Does anyone know if the ride height is higher in new cars, and goes then lower a bit with kilometers, or should I look into if they installed the wrong suspension?

I agree with OP on the seat height. I wish I felt lower when seated. It feels like I’m driving an SUV? I’m not sure how to put it.

But whatever, I can deal with it. I love this little rocket so much.

I'm only 5' 8" so the seat height is just about at it's highest and I still feel it's too low...

Beautiful looking car, enjoy it !

I totally agree with you on the driving dynamics, having owned a succession of RWD BWW’s I was curious to discover the difference with FWD in the 2 series GC and like you it feels different from any other FWD car I’ve driven definitely more of a feeling of being pushed rather than pulled

On a long road trip recently to visit our daughter in the Orkney islands the car performed brilliantly over a range of roads, sure footed and composed.

I am sure the wait will be worthwhile for Quartetrbill, although I can empathise with the feeling “I want my motor now”
