The GC is a coupe style with four doors. With the M6, there were different headlights, taillights, etc. from the 5er. So the M6GC looked different. There's no need for a M4 GC...the M3 has the same front, and similar tail. Only the body lines have changed. Still, I want to see one. They rationalized the 3GT... |

I guess I should look forward to my M3, based on everyone's enthusiastic response!

The 6 GC doesn't steal much M5 customers since it's almost $20k more. BMW has done a good job with giving the GC a much sportier interior feel. It feel more intimate, snug, lower and wrapped around you while M5 feels like you sit in a bathtub at the helm of Titanic kind of. I think the M3 will feel closer to the M4 and the price to an M4 GC can not be very large so it will be more redundant. I would still like to see one being produced.

I think he was being facetious.
The thing is, the M5 and the M6 are aimed at two separate demographics. That's why a M6 GC can be pulled off. The M3 and M4 are aimed at the same demographic, the difference being who just really who wants 4-doors or 2. |

It appears that the 4 GC is going to be a five-door hatchback unlike the 6 GC which has four doors and a traditional trunk. So although an M4 GC would share more styling with the M3 than the M6 GC does with the M5, it will also offer more differentiation in form factor than there is between those two. This would seem to me to provide enough justification for its existence (to the extent that you can justify any of these new model variations, which is another topic altogether).

I thought the 3 series GranSport has the hatch trunk? And the GranCoupe would have a sleek trunk?
I think the factory is just waiting to see if anyone actually buys the GC. Then if they do, they can do an M version.

I'm in for the M4 GC and willing to signing whatever necessary!
M6 GC is not affordable to me and as long as it stay's below M5 pricing I'd buy it. SO and CCB is all I need |

Unfortunately, the 4-series Gran Coupe is NOT to the 3-series what the 6-series Gran Coupe is to the 5-series. Whereas the 5- and 6-series have a lot of unique styling when it comes to their respective interiors and exteriors, the 4-series is MUCH more of a 2-door version of the 3-series in terms of styling. This means that a 6-series Gran Coupe doesn't actually look a 5-series, whereas a potential 4-series Gran Coupe would look very similar to a 3-series sedan. To that end, in order for the 4-series Gran Coupe to be truly different than the 3-series, BMW had to differentiate it somehow, and it chose to make it a competitor to the Audi A5 Sportback and give it very strong hatchback styling, if not giving it an actual hatchback.
I have no desire to own such a car. And especially not an M version of such a car. Of course, this could all be wrong since we've only ever seen a heavily camo'ed version of the test mule, but indications don't look good.

I agree, but since they're making a model for everyone else I'm glad they're going to make one for me, too.

I've been Mr. Practical my whole life. Now I want something a little sexier. It compensates for middle age - and I'm willing to pay a premium for it. Yeah, I'm selling out to fashion.

Coupe won't work for me for a couple of reasons. (Narrow garage and need to carry passengers now and then.) Besides, the 4GC makes no less sense than the X6, X4, 6GC.
They're making custom cars for everyone else, so I'm just asking.
