Nice. Maybe they will give us the option. I'm sure many consumers would opt for the sunroof over the CF.

I think I would prefer the CF, because I don't really like the sun.

I hear you. That is why I have ordered my M3 for dark-side-of-moon delivery. I tried to get Pluto Delivery, but it was full.

It's already a confirmed no-cost option in Europe and South Africa. It's SA403 on this: http://www.bmw.co.za/Products/Automo...s/Price_M3.pdf

I always keep my sunroof tilted to vent the cabin air. Opening the window is sometimes annoying with wind blowing your face, so tilting the roof is a nice way to keep your cabin air fresh.

but...............

CF > sunroof

Only way I would get the Sunroof is if it combined the CF roof with it.
The sunroof would also have to be electronically controlled, and fully retractable.
I dont want a piece of glass that tilts up 2 or 3 inches, I want to be able to hang out of the top of my car.

That can be done. Evosport has installed them in Vorsteiner E46 CF roofs. You can be sure they will be available for the E92 Coupe, as well. So, just order a steel roof car with sunroof, and get the roof replaced and switch over the sunroof parts. That's be a lot of money to save 11 lbs., though. Would be unique.

So the sunroof for the e92 M3 will be fully retractable, or only tilt 2-3 inches??

My understanding is that it's the stock complete sunroof unit and operates the same, but I will verify that, as well as get a cost.

As much as carbon fiber is great for the car, I'm sure many of the owners would love to opt for a sunroof. Not everyone is going to be driving the car hard like you would on a track.

I love a sunroof and hate being in a car without a sunroof. It's a pet peev if you will. But I am having a hard time saying no to the CF roof. Its nice looking, stands out, and its supposed to change to cars drive dramatically by lowering the center of gravity and some weight. On the other hand, like a 350Z without sunroof it feels like your trapped and when the windows are open its still might not be enough air, so you might be using your a/c more often. I'm torn! but leaning towards CF roof, its too unique to ignore.

I feel exactly the same. Another thing about air is the rear windows don't pop out to vent like the E46.

This is a major bummer. That is such a useful feature on my '04 coupe. I pop them out when parked at work under the sun. Works great!
