I really hope they keep RWD but it is unlikely for 2er. It does not make sense in terms of cost. Also, I don't think 1/2 series sells way more than A3 or A class. So there is no reason for BMW to keep RWD 2er. I hope I guessed totally wrong, though. |

Haha, yeah, previously they?ve only done that dumb move on awd F10s. Not sure who the engineer that messed up the steering rack was, but he?s probably been promoted since then.

Corroborating this is the next generation 2 Series coupe and convertible model codes which are G42/G43. In every case we know of, "G" is used for CLAR vehicles, while UKL vehicles still use "F". Quote:

Audi/VW has exclusive rights to the latest Haldex that transfers a fixed rate to the rear axle of their transverse awd setups. That?s why AMG is stuck with no power to the rear and Ford came up with their own setup for the Focus RS.

SHO, Grand Prix, and Impala were fwd only and outside of Conan O’Brien, I’m not sure many people call either great.

The DTS mentioned by the poster I replied to was also a FWD car. Might've been an AWD option - don't remember, but don't think so.

Some of the Volvo I6 were also fwd, so you?ve got me there. I think the V8 was only awd. Not that it made it any better.

By the time BMW is ready to build small, AWD M vehicles, we may be onto a new platform with an electric motor sitting out back doing most of the work, with another one up front and the ICE there primarily for range extending. A lot can happen in ten years time. |

Nonetheless, I still think it looks too tall. More GT than GC, in my eyes - the window outline is not sporty or sexy. It's almost like if a widescreen photo has been squeezed horizontally to fit 4:3 format... |
