New 530d Touring
I was behind one of these yesterday as we both turned right up a slip road onto the A31 near Ringwood. It easily had the legs on my remapped 330d. I was very impressed with it! Looked very nice too in a deep metallic blue with the twin exit exhausts. It would certainly be my BMW of choice when time comes to change.

I think they virtually have the same torque as a 335d, so no wonder they go well.

FYI, I was in Comfort mode. My car "according to DMS" is around 330bhp/520lb/ft. But let's take nothing away from this new 530d. Just illustrates that with each new generation, the engine and drivetrains are just that much better.

Had one as a coutesy, felt sluggish compared to a 335d, good low down torque, top end dead as a dodo. Didnt really like it tbh, dont think they look as good as the 3er either.

Nice car - and the touring looks better than the saloon, as they always do, IMO
Had two 530d's in the past and liked them a lot although I found the E61 better to drive than the F11 Have driven the new 520d saloon as a loaner which did nothing for me. The M Sport seats are strangely narrow which I really didn't like

It's a fantastic car, definitely a level up from the 3 series in terms of comfort and quality. Moving to petrol from having diesels for the last couple of cars has been nice. However, due to the sound proofing in the car I felt I needed to get the MPPSK to really enjoy the acoustics. It now sounds fantastic, loud but not silly and less pops and bangs than the 3 series MPPSK. It's also increased the pull of the car lower in the rev range which is nice when coming from a remapped 335d. The adaptive drive does some amazing work when cornering, I have no idea how they manage it but it's made the car handle far better than the 3 series did and it seems to wrap around you and not feel like the massive barge it is. All in all I'm very happy with the car, especially now it's got the MPPSK. It puts a smile on my face one minute and the next it's taking a super king size bed down the tip without me having to break anything in half.

Adaptive Drive is great isn't it. Shrinks the car, much more agile than a passive setup, and gives a balance and composure you just don't expect in such a large car. |
