Servotronic maps may be adjustable w/o idrive- not sure
The text below from the original press release seems to imply that you can change the servotronic maps from the Sport/Normal button on the console.
It could be that when you press the "Sport" button you get the Sport throttle response plus the Sport servotronic steering map. Any opinions or facts? __________________________________________________ _______________ Servotronic steering with two manually adjustable control maps Rear-wheel drive keeps the rack-and-pinion steering of the BMW M3 Sedan free of drive forces. A further enhancement is hydraulic Servotronic power assistance controlling steering forces as a function of road speed. There is also a choice of two different control maps activated through normal and sport modes with a console-mounted button. In Sport mode the BMW M3 provides direct and immediate response with a relatively high steering effort. In the Normal mode, power assistance is comfort-oriented and requires less steering effort. |

I believe it was previously posted that you had to have M-Drive to utalize this function and I think that means you have to have the Tech Package, which in turn means you will have to have idrive. Unless M-Drive is a seperate option. However, it does say "a console-mounted button". Ambiguous.

I was under the impression that Mdrive was required for the sport setting and this in turn gave you the double hump and Idrive system...

That's interesting. That would be great if true. I don't see why they would have you buy the tech package just for that when everything else is somewhat adjustable without it (EDC, sport throttle map, DSC off). Probably wishful thinking though.
