Its got Civic type R written all over it.
Body style, fwd, and the power are pretty similar.
Interested in knowing how it drives compared to a 2 series coupe.

If only enthusiasts bought BMWs the Company couldn't afford to develop the vehicles only enthusiasts love. And in my experience, most enthusiasts like buying used BMWs then modding them. You should be thankful they're trying to make mass produced cars that keeps the pipeline for the high performance cars funded!

Just go to a BMW dealer and look around at their clientele...it's pretty depressing.

At least when you go to a Porsche dealer most people look like they give a shit about cars.

This isn't a Porsche type of situation where they clearly give a damn about making some of the best driver's cars on the market. Even BMW's M division cars get mostly lukewarm response from the press nowadays. The M4 GTS was straight up panned. These are no longer the days of the E46 M3, E39 M5, E92 M3, E60 M5, etc.

Then why do the Macan and Cayenne sell far more than the 911 and 718s...? The companies 2 SUV's make up for more than HALF of their vehicles sold globally.

What exactly is "wrong" about the BMW clientele?

You don't have to hear it from me, BMW's own management has stated their customers want soft squishy cars. That tells me all I need to know about BMW's customers. People like us are few and far in between.

I don't blame you. I thought it looked like a Hyundai Elantra (which I think is the sister car to the forte), but the forte is definitely more fitting. It's perplexing how much more "childish" the 2GC looks compared to the 3 series and even the 2 series coupe.

This is very true. A front wheel drive bmw is not going to get a lot of love on an enthusiast forum, but as a business decision, BMW wants to play in every category that can be potentially very profitable.

Hey, it's still a car. I like it more than an X3M or X5M. Honestly, probably like it more than an M5 or M8 these days. At least it's not two tons (I hope.)

Looks nice in that spec and brings BMW to compete in compact 300HP segment on level terms (FWD AWD) also here in the UK M135i hatch vs Golf R.

Everyone is going to the sportback design. Some do it well, like the Audi RS5 Sportback, others not so much.

This looks okay, but wouldn't make me a convert or anything. Why can't they make a bunch of 1 Series Ms with S55 or S65 in them? I would buy one :-)
