F10 Procede / Dinan Chip Tune
Does anyone know if any of the tuning companies are offering or developing remapped engine management software for the new 5er's turbocharged motors?
I'd assume we could expect gains similar to the 335's |

I haven't seen any announcements releasing the JB3 or Procede for the N55 engine yet. But we'd have to assume they're working on it. I know Vishnu (Procede) has been posting updates in the E90 forums saying they are making progress.

I've read the n55 is not as tunable as the n54...so don't expect too much...
haven't read anything about the TT V8 engine tho....

Racing Dynamics is also working on it, on the website a product that takes the 550i up 88hp I believe (with no price) but when you call them what they have now is up a bit over 50hp.
From the early press releases it looks like tuners will be able to take this engine up to and perhaps just over 600hp. |

The 550i’s R50S package will boast 620-horsepower from the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Alongside all of these engine changes will come a new exhaust system, a high performance braking system, a new rear locking differential and a new braking system. There will be a lowered suspension as well. The wheels come in a size of 21-inches, and they will be followed by a new aero kit. |

I would expect anything in the >500hp range to have considerably more than just an ECU update. The Alpina B5 is just over 500hp and has among the changes a new intercooler, new pistons, and modification to the transmission.

If the N54 can hit 400HP with some bolt ons and ecu tweaks, I'd imagine 500HP is a good (and safe) range for the 550i. 500HP/550TQ would be flat out

Yeah the 550i engine is the N63 and the M motor is S63 but the only difference in the two engines I can find online is the manifold design and the turbos. Doesn't mention forged internals although I had assumed they were.

If you contact Racing Dynamics regarding the specifics, they will clearly advise you that the maximum horsepower figures they are quoting are only AFTER you purchase their package that includes modifying the internals of the engine. I believe increasing bore & stroke is one of those mods. |

Do we detect a little fear from the M3 driver? Just kidding, I am sure that if they do bump the power to this level (600HP) they will offer other things or add ons to mitigate any possible engine and driving problems. If they dont I would deff be weary of doing anything to my F10 550. I do believe that its only a matter of time before the true potential of a twin turbo V8 is explored and exploited. |

Dinan says they've been working on a 750i (almost the same engine) and have a target date of October for an ECU flash for the 550i. Target of +100hp and +150 torque.
