It works but the pic is just a little small - a thumbnail.

DAB is awesome though, if you are specing a car make sure you tick this option.

Any ideas how hard would it be to isntall DAB. is it just case of plugin it in

I'm sure it is NOT plug and play.
Even if i were, it would require coding at £££ at a stealers afterwards for it to work.

When I enquired at the parts dept they told me it couldn't be done and they also told me there was no Alpine speaker upgrade kit either
If you are ordering a new car it should be fitted as standard because soon all cars are going to need it as there will be no FM/AM anymore |

I wish I did - was one of those things I forgot when specing it, though, - I think I might give my local stealer a shout and see what they say. As if the shark fin is the aerial for dab I can see bmw producing more than one variant so might be easier to fit,

That's a bit rubbish - I see your point.
Have a look: http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/DAB_car_aerials.html They have some small glass mounts, and and FM to DAB antenna convertor.. Had a look on realoem, there's TWENTY ONE different sharkfins, each made to suit the combination of nav, dab, BT etc. So if your car didn't have DAB from the factory it won't have the DAB antenna... http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...83&hg=65&fg=30 |

I tried a stick-on-glass aerial with a portable DAB radio that fed the AUX input, before I got the BMW kit. Reception was awful. Can't beat an external antenna.
For sure, the best solution (Band-III, i.e. not France/Germany) is to get the correct FM/DAB amplifier from BMW (fits in the roof lining). It feeds from the rear screen, like the FM aerial - therefore there's actually NO need for an external mounting, not even the shark fin. If I can get hold of one, I'll try it |

I am using the aerial attached to the screen for my Highway and the reception is on/off for most of the journey.
If I could get an aerial in the sharkfin then I would, bugger the cost If anybody manages it let me know the part numbers etc.... |

watching with interest..
Personally I'd be happy to lose my CDC, and just plug in the DAB there and get it recoded, but the external aerial puts me off. So if anyone ascertains if there is some way to get an internal aerial feed working I'll be ready to venturing into the roof lining... I have bluetooth & nav so have the shark fin, or at least one version of it! |

DAB No Signal
I have factory fitted DAB radio which worked perfectly when I collected the car in November last year. In December I noticed it loosing its signal on and off and put this down to the bad weather. I've tried to use it again recently but I just get the message "No Signal".
My car had the electric rear blind and this was broken when I collected the car. My stealer agreed to fix it under the approved used car warranty. Reading some of the earlier posts, I note that in the UK my DAB radio will be using the antenna in the rear screen. Is it possible that the antenna or its connection could have been disturbed whilst the blind was fixed? I use the iPod a lot and cannot remember 100% whether the DAB radio has worked since the blind was fixed... I'm pretty sure it has but cannot be 100%. I hear people talk of them being reset by a stealer - do you think this is where I need to go next, or is there anything I can try myself? Thanks in advance for any advise or fix! |

I have the DAB option on my car and whenever I switch to DAB tuner I get the "no Signal" message. Do I need to take it to BMW to reset the DAB tuner or is it something that can be done via the iDrive?
Have Logic7, so really want to make use of the DAB tuner for talksport which sounds crap on 1053MW!

Something is wrong. DAB stations from BBC and DigitalOne etc will work almost anywhere - on the M1 I never found a dark spot.
I chose my 335d BECAUSE it had DAB and now I'm in the 135i without it, I'm sad! Matt |
