Ordering Question regarding Allocation
Lets say you place an Order for a 135i coupe, the Dealer submited the order to BMW. Which I assume will take away one 135 allocation from the dealer. Does this allocation get "Locked in" with that order and the only way to "Move" this allocation around is to cancel this order?
I think I'm just worry that the dealer would give some other customer higher priority (maybe they're a friend or they pay $X over MSRP, etc) and keep push my order further down the queue. How does Allocation works anyways? Does dealership has a fixed number of Allocation of "Special/Hot" cars like M3 and 1ers? Or M3 and other M cars are in one allocation pot and 1ers have another allocation pot for the same dealership? There's no way on telling how many allocation a dealership gets (they always say they've tons)? Thanks a lot |

This is exactly why I cancelled my first order that was $1k over ED invoice from the first dealer. I placed an order, signed a PO and left a deposit...CA was out more than she was in, placed the order nearly 5 business days later by FAX not by computer - order was placed in the order bank.
After 2 more weeks of asking why I didn't have a production number and the CA thinking i'm an annoying customer with paranoia issues, I decided to pursue my first choice dealer I knew who had allocation and would match my price, only disadvantage would be its a further away dealer from my home. I made sure he had a slot available to give me and made sure that I received a prod# that same day. Placed the order, cancelled the first order, got a prod #. My 2nd CA asked me a week later to come in and sign the PO but already after he had put the order in and gave up his allocation slot for my order. I already had my order # and registered it on Owner's Circle - when I came in to sign the PO, he gave me a print out sheet from their system with my name on it, my prod # and configuration build.

Ask you sales guy to see their allocation sheet and production schedule. They should show you all slots they can offer you for what you are ordering. SOmetimes they may have an allocated car that is close to the package you want and you can take it or do a complete custom build based on a slot they have open. The key is getting the production # asap with a priority 1 STATUS.
