The beastS -;)
Every time I see this video it reminds me of what type of beast M5 really is especially with how much power the E63 AMG S yet this happens after 80-90 mph and yes it could be the parasitic AWD effect, chapeau off to M division -

After driving the 2014 911 carrera 4S, E63 AMG S 4matic and the Audi R8, I think that the M5 is a well rounded car. E63 while very stable and hook up easy, it too easy and no drama, which my wife like =). the R8 is sexy, but is uncomfortable for long drive. the 911 C4S IMO is the best car I have driven so far, so stable, exotic yet subtle.

I too am thinking about getting an E63S next year when my lease is up. I prefer the AWD since my car is my daily and I need a car that can get around the snow and slush in winter.
That being said, is it just me or do the wheels look too small compared to the body of the car? The M5 is well proportioned. E63 not so much. Plus the COMAND system is brutal. That alone is turning me off |

Actually had a feature of calling out any name of the contact list if I am not mistaken and worked fine.. but small screen and back then had to purchase a BT hardware Media Plus thing for 300$ or so to stream audio and worked horribly - Now that I am talking about it I am having flashbacks and remembered how much I wish I had an I - Drive or Acura System - LOL Last edited by soooma; 05-24-2014 at 09:15 PM.. |

E63s pros: - MUCH more useable power in city driving due to AWD. Makes the car feel much faster around town. You can always use the power. From 0-80 nothing is going to touch you. E63s cons: - transmission is terrible. The latency between pulling the upshift paddle until the transmission actually shifting seems like forever. - COMAND system is very bad. Poor UI design, hard to figure out, small screen, more limited function. - car looks a little dorky M5 pros: - totally awesome DCT transmission, one of the car's best features - my singapore grey car is just a beautiful car - BMW electronics are better and more user-friendly than AMG, at least in 2014. M5 cons: - very hard to get all 575 ponies pulling around town. Under full throttle, the traction control light is often flashing and power is reduced. Full throttle in first gear, without traction control intervening, doesn't seem possible except under dragstrip-like conditions. Even second gear often has reduced power. Apart from the power issues, the M5 rules the day in my opinion. |

So I end up getting a 2014 F12 M6 after looking at a bunch of high performance car, nothing, IMO, beat the versatility of the BMW M series. R8 is too small (trunk space, no back seat, and other amenities) E63 AMG S 4matic (no head-up, DCT, and poor nav system) 911 Carrera S (way overprice for the option I wanted that comparable to M6, and not as fast, sounds fast, feels fast, but not really fast). GTR Black edition (too unrefined, so many noise, rough and seat are no where as comfortable as the other). While 2/3 are faster than the M6, it just doesn't meet my everyday needs.

Soooma,
In my opinion, the M6 feels more nimble and hide it weight better than the M5 due to lower center of gravity and lighter. Powerwise not as strong as my BMS M5, my wife even said it does feel as strong as the M5 but it will be stronger after the break in period and after I install the tune module and remove the carbon filter. Noise wise, it is a bit more noisier than the M during cruising but the B&O can easily fix that. Overall, I think the M6 is a better package for me because is only me and my wife. Also, steering is lighter and more precise, seart are better for spritual driving compare to M but not as comfortable. That is it. |
