2010 BMW X5 Details
Hey all,
First time poster here - great forum with lots of info! Looking to "step up" to the big boy...started with my research and getting some interesting info but getting confused about the details. So the big question from me is, "2009 or 2010 X5? Get a better deal on a left over '09 or get the '10". I started trying to piece together what's coming in the 2010 (besides the M). This is what I've found...hoping that some peeps can help validate or give more info: - slightly changes to front bumper - minor changes back bumper - possible new trim - possible new 3.0 engine (this would be a big deciding factor) - new iDrive Couldn't find a leaked brochure yet Any thoughts/info from the experts?. First off, you would be mad to buy a petrol engine when the 3.0d gets way better fuel economy and has a 1/3 more torque.
The 35d (3.0sd) twin turbo diesel has 600nm of torque and gets better economy than the 3.0i petrol. The new V8 X5 M has 680nm, so the the diesel is the better buy for DD. We have had the diesel X5's since the early 2000's here and I would never go back to a petrol engine X5!

This is the "rumour" I've heard as well - I'd love to know if it's for real That's a big boost in HP. Can anyone validate this?

Would not worry about the diesel noise, you don't hear it in the cabin, but you can hear the turbo whine and thats music to your ears

I have the same questions. For me, coming from a 335 with iDrive, an updated iDrive is most important. Is that part of the details true?

The Sept/Oct production X5 is supposed to have the new iDrive. I drove a loan car today, a BMW 3 series sedan, it had the old idrive but the new control idrive knob with the buttons around it. I see on the forum a member has added this idrive controller knob with buttons to his BMW that has the old idrive and it worked. (plug & play so to speak), so when this new knob comes out in the X5 I am going to try a retro-fit!

My new X5 M-Sport (April 09) arrives on the boat here tomorrow in Australia but I doubt that it will have any changes on it.

you can also order the M Appearance Package for $6,700 (that is a new option that includes the adaptive drive, painted aero package, aluminum roof rails, 19" wheels, etc.)

I thought the $4500 eco credit was worth more than a few cosmetic things and some other minor stuff. I have been driving mine for nearly 30 days now, and I'm glad I got it rather than waiting. But, whatever floats your boat.
