I have an otherwise sane friend who called me on Monday evening in a panic. He told me that I needed to stockpile food and gasoline for our generator right away. I told him that there was no blizzard threat on the 7-day weather forecast. Long story short, he was apparently watching too many post-apocalypse movies on Netflix over the weekend, and believes that humanity will be bartering toilet paper as a currency by the end of the year.....

I'd love to see the Browns win the superbowl (not a Browns fan). Other than that just standing by for the world to open up again. Hoping the fiance and I can finally tie the knot in May pending any covid shut-downs. I'm optimistic for a good year although most are the opposite. Hell my company had our most profitable year in 2020, so if we managed through that the rest should be cake. I tend to be similar to a horse with blinders, if it is not in my way then I don't give a shit.

I hear ya, I have had multiple people tell me the same thing almost to the word.

I'm best man in my buddies wedding in May. He has already had to reschedule once and I fear I may not be able to attend in May. NJ is on the naughty list for COVID with my employer. Truthfully he has a lot of guests from out of the US also and may not make sense to attempt it this year.
Best of luck to you and your fiance.

My field of vision is narrowing. I’m going to retire Friday, so no more need to engage in national or state politics/lobbying. So I can focus on personal things, and not worry or get caught up in things like that (I really dislike politicians and how they operate). Thus I don’t have any significant predictions for the state or nation or globe. My focus is on things I can impact or change directly.

To put it more philosophically, the tide goes out, the tide comes in. The ocean doesn’t care.

I am re-patriating back to the US middle of this year after a nearly 3 year work assignment in Germany. I look forward to:

1) Buffalo Wild Wings
2) BlackRock Steak house
3) Basement Burger Bar
4) Deep dish pizza
5) Stores being open on Sundays
6) Shawarma places
7) IPA's from every micro-brewery around
8) American Bourbon selection

More or less in that order. I also hope travel and the way we vacation can return towards normal at some point this year.

2020 was bad? 2021 says, "Hold my beer."

(I'd like to take credit for that, but it wasn't my brain child.)

I said the exact same thing to a friend of mine last week.

My 2021 Predictions:

Fuel prices will be close to $3.00/gallon national average

Any beverage or consumable goods that rely on carbon dioxide will continue to increase. Beer will be hit the hardest.

The COVID 19 vaccine will not work for older people and may put them at risk.

Home mortgage interest will start to climb back up

Clear LED TV or windows will start hitting the market

More Tesla will catch on fire prompting NHTSA recall and investigation

During last year CO2 nation wide force majeure, I saw price increase from a six pack of Yuengling from less than $6 to almost $9 within a couple of months.

Housing market instability will lead to drop on prices so my grubby hands can get some more rental properties to supplement my wheel whoring addiction
