trusting technical vendors to get their job done so that other technical vendors could do theirs. I'm not savvy enough to actually program the switches so that the new SAN can connect to the VM hosts. I can see obvious missing items, but not strong enough to be able to create a remedy from scratch

I found out a friend of mine went into the hospital with the rona and died from a stroke. Mid 30's and a gym rat too.

I reviewed a file which had over 1500 pages when it should've been only about 350.

...a major database upgrade/migration at work, with a never-ending list of problems that were not discovered in months of pre-upgrade testing. I have been working until at least 9:00 PM every evening since rollout cleaning up broken dependencies, and already have four hours work time in this morning...on a Saturday...and I'm not even the DBA!

Believe it or not, that wasn't even the worst thing that happened to me this week. I just opened the real estate listing for a piece of land that I wanted to see since the holidays in South Carolina, and discovered that it is now under contract to another buyer as of Wednesday. Time for looking at the plan B second choices.....

My brother proposed to his GF of about 5 years, and she said yes. Then there was Cazadores. When that ran out, there was rum. Then there was mac/cheese. Then about 30 minutes later there was mac/cheese coming out of my throat, and it was still fully formed. And now I'm called into work . . .

External hard drive crashed. Lost gigs of music and movies....what hurts the most was this was my file for all my family pictures. Almost every single picture, since I bought a digital camera, of my boys is now gone. Heartbroken over it.

Get a replacement, ready to go. Put the "failed" one in the freezer, next to ice cream (critical) for about 30 minutes. Plug it right in and copy data.

If the ice cream fails you, there are some great drive restore places. I had one crater on me at my last job when I was 90% of the way through my next years budget - which no one could start theirs until I finished mine (sales) and I overnighted it to a place in Chicago and they got 98% of everything off of it for me and I only lost a few very unimportant files. It was semi-pricy but I was not paying for it. For something the caliber of what you are talking about - I think I would pay it again.

The reason he can't do that is when he says family photos he really means his porn collection.

Just kidding Rudi That really does suck though.

I can't post in this thread because my issues seem like small potatoes compared to what some of you guys posted. Hang in there.

A really good guy I used to race/ride BMX with took his life this weekend.
He always battled with addiction but his mom passed a few months ago and he just couldnt bare it anymore.
Sad, he left his dad all alone now and a cat which was this kids favorite thing in the world.

I'll try this as soon as I'm home long enough to mess with it. Thanks Wede!

I'll try the ice cream method soon and see what that yields. If it doesn't do the trick, I'll definitely go this route. Those pictures are priceless to me.

In the words of Snoop Dogg, "Game recognizes game." This is all I will say.

I wouldn't mind though. I have no shame. I'm sure they'd enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed making it.

No worries brother! This does suck but in the great scheme of things, there is far worse that can happen.

I just tested positive for COVID. On the upside, I can still taste my whiskey.
