Sometime in early '06 for the USA market. I note, however, that you're in Canada, and I don't know if the answer is the same for the Canadian market.
Dealers got a "schedule" for this when the E91 was first announced in the 3rd quarter of this year. March of '06 sticks in my mind as the date for the RWD E91 here, but it's been awhile since I saw the printout at the dealership. |

You should get it with the x drive. Especially in Canada. Unless you're into street racing or something there is no perceivable performance difference that I can tell. My $.02

That's a matter of opinion - everyone around here thinks they need AWD, and mostly you're just dragging weight and extra equipment around for most of the year, as well as a small extra maintenance burden. Depends on too many variables to make a generalization. I surely don't need it, but the dealers here tend to order virtually nothing else - you can't find an RWD Lexus IS250 in our market, for example.
I too am waiting for the RWD E91 - and for some noticeable progress on this persistent front shaking problem..... |

I too would prefer a rear drive 325i Touring instead of the awd I ordered. I'll as my dealer if they have any info on this. Since my car won't be delivered until end of Jan anyway maybe I can change my order.

Well, that's certainly why they offer us choices. My guess would be late Spring for the RWD touring, but that's just a guess. I figure the extra weight might cost $50 a year in gas... worth it to have AWD when I need it. And since the new x drive system is so dynamic, the car is RWD 99% of the time anyway.
Good luck though, I hope you're able to find some good information.

in my limited experience, i found that the DSC III in our 2003 325i was fabulous in the snow when combined with good snow tires. i expect our E90 to perform the same if not better.
i want to pick up an e91 touring next summer as a 2nd car, and definitely want RWD...although if LEDZEP says there is no perceivable difference in performance, we may get the xi
