Shipping a 335 TO europe.
Yep... this may be in the future for me, I tried searching for it, but the search seems to be dead
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 25165824 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 65536 bytes) in /home/admin/domains/bimmerpost.com/public_html/forums/search.php on line 871 anyways, might have a job re-location to Austria and I was wondering if anyone has any experience shipping a car from the west coast of the US to the EU... like cost of shipping and any import duties and taxes. Thanks!!! |

I don't know the laws of Austria but I know a guy that moved from the UK to Canada and he was able to bring his car and other belongings to canada duty and tax free. Regarding shipping, it costs around $3000US to ship a 20ft container from Japan to Vancouver so it probably costs 3000-4000 to Austria but you will also have to get the container railed to Austria from a neighbouring country which will probably cost more. Good Luck

Taxes (if any) would depend on the conditions of your move. Most likely
there won't be any. I know that the cost from the east coast runs at around $1500-$1800. To save a bit of money, if you are not shipping any other personal belongings, you could send your car to Venice and then you could go there, pick it up and drive to Austria. |

Also, I think it might be cheaper for you to ship your car if you get it transported on a ro-ro ship. That is ship that only delivers cars so people drive your car on the ship and someone drives it off. Good Luck

Last time I priced a shipment from east coast to Europe it was around $1200.. then add about $800 to move it from west - east coast. You can call anyone in the yellow pages and they will give you a quote.
As far as importation taxes, if it's not diplomatic or int'l organization importation you potentially could pay engine liter road tax plus VAT. You'll have to dig around... or would your job sponsor know? What about getting your job to pay for the shipment and importation? |

I would say around ~$2K for shipping and most likely your car will be exempt from all taxes if you are a US Citizen and planning on moving back to US. They will give you a tax exempt (foreigner) plates...... Kinda like diplamatic plates....
