My 3D E90
Hi all,
I cant buy an e90 as my age doesnt allow So i have been modeling this E90 (330i) since last February. Yes, i know its a long time but its the time when first E90s were released i guess.. I sometimes even didnt touch it for months but anyway.. still lots of things to do ..No interior yet Just wanted to share... By the way, Many Thanks to Everybody here whose pictures of their cars helped me a lot while modeling this car! |

nice! 3d modeling is pretty damn hard, and it seems like you're pretty good at it.
what program are you using? i've used maya, formz, autocad but mainly for architecture |

That is awesome! I just wish I understood how it works... Do you pieces of a picture and then work with them and put them on your model? Or do you draw it out on the computer? In as basic terms as you can put it what are you doing...

Wow, this is great work! I did a good deal of 3D modeling on my spare time but I was creating stuff that didn't exist, replicating in such detail real objects is much more difficult!
So from what I can see of where you are in your design, we should start taking pictures of the underside of our cars? |

Thanks..yes, it'd be good I think creating a nonexisting thing is much more difficult
Anyway.. @ AW330i; First, i found a drawing(which is usually called blueprint) of the car that has the views front, rear, top and side.. Then i put them in the program as i showed below. Then i start with a plane which will be the hood, using the Top view. Then adjust it to other views and give a general shape. If all matches perfectly(sometimes they dont  ) i contiune. Then, i copy some polygons from the hood and start making bumper. and then so on, completed. You can see the polygons of the car from the pictures below. Its hard to believe it all started with a plane The exterior isnt so hard as the blueprints are used. but interior isnt so easy i think(thats why i havent able to start yet ) I'm not sure if i will model the iDrive or not What do you suggest Nowadays i have a big problem with the program it suddenly shuts itself down so I'll have to format the pc..Here's the keyfob of the car(maybe someone remember, i opened a topic in which i requested some pictures of the keyfob, that was the reason i asked ) I really need to remodel the bmw logo,it looks awful now...(thanks to a friend of mine for preparing me the maps of keyfob) |

COT DAMN! that's nice I know how hard 3d can be, everything has to be built I remember a 4 minute 3d animation i did, easily over 40 hours (building & rendering time) with the lighting and camera setting. It's fun but way too time consuming for me to do it for a living. Did u know after finding Nemo was done, the rendering time was 18 months!!!! crazy right and those were insane machines used too
