18x9 39mm Offset (Rears)

Hi guys.

I have searched around the forum however this size seems to be very uncommon. The particular wheels I am looking at appear to only have 15mm and 39mm offset in both 18/19 9/9.5.

According to willtheyfit there will be a 12mm more inner clearance to the strut and would have .3mm less poke than a 18x9.5 with a 45mm offset. Just want to be sure I will not have any issues. This is for an x-drive car. The car will be lowered on Dinan springs as well shortly. No other suspension mods.

Specs:

Fronts:
Size: 18 x 8.5
Offset: 35mm
Tires: 225x40x18 - Continental Extreme Contact Sports

Rears:
Size: 18 x 19.0
Offset: 39mm
Tires: 255x35x18 - Continental Extreme Contact Sports

Regards.

Okay. Optionally I guess I could do another 18 x 8.5 on the back same offset (35mm) with a 225 tire.

The wheels I am looking at are TSW Bathurst RF. Not 100% sure on the weight but the 18x8 is about 18.6lbs from what I found.

I'm no expert, but based on the numbers and my experience with running spacers on the OEM wheels, I think you will be ok if you are good with 5-6mm of rim poke in the front and 8-9mm in the rear. The tires should be ok under the fenders in the front and 2-3mm of poke in the rear.

Thanks Rotor. I happen to find one other person that ran them on the forum although I have scrubbed the idea at this point. They look decent but really not an ideal fitment IMO.

Right now I am looking at Stance and considering VMR.

I will mention this for the rear. If going with a 9in with offset of 40 or less, lowering on springs would require a 255 or smaller width wheel. Even a 255 is cutting it close for clearance. I only say this because I'm running 9.5et44 in the back with 265 tires and under compression, they come close to rubbing (I'm on stock suspension though). If I were to lower on springs, then It'd rub under compression 100%. 255 would cut it close.

Only bringing this up because I've heard of people (my coworker) who have damaged their funders because of the tire hitting it from bumps, hard corners, etc.

Hi Joe! Thanks. That was my impression as well. With an x-drive model in a staggered fitment I would definitely want to run a 255 in the back for rolling diameter tolerance, although I think I have seen a couple on the forum running 245 without any issues (225 fronts). These wheels are also not hub centric which is my other issue with them, I believe 76.1 and I am sure we have 72.56? Could use rings I guess but...

Yes we are 72.56, but like you said could always use rings. Personally, I find rings to be a safer wheel mod than using spacers to correct offsets, though I'm sure there really isn't that much of a difference.

BMW actually ships the 235/240 with 225/245 summer setups so it's fine for xDrive. I wouldn't go over that diameter tolerance though (1.3% I believe it is). 225/255 would work, or 235/265 as well. Those would be the only staggered setups recommended for the xDrive models beyond the stock ones.

F2x 19"x9" ET36 trial fit - here is what it looks like. I don't think it would be fine even with 235 tires.

Might not fit in the rear. I have 18x8.5 ET 38's in the rear of mine with 255/35 tires and there is some non-negligable poke. Im switching to ET 45's in the rear in a few weeks.
