iPhone 4S music randomly stops
My 3gs had no issues - I just recently upgraded to a 4s and the music will start playing fine but randomly cut out and start playing from the phone speakers. Has anyone else encountered this? Last night I drove for about 30 minutes with no issues with the audio... today it would stop every minute or so. What's the deal?
(I have that bmw factory iPhone cable) |

I have a knock off iPhone cable from ebay ($20). Have used three different iPhone 4's with iOS5 and haven't had any issues. I typically use it in aux mode because the sound quality is better than with usb. That is probably why I have not had issues. I will try using it in usb mode to see if I have any disconnects. I do not have navi.
Are you using it in usb mode? Try it out in just AUX by removing the usb part and see if that helps. A bit OT but is your sound quality ok with the sound running through usb mode? I have a feeling my cheap 20 dollar cable has terrible sound quality with in usb mode. |

I am using it in AUX mode.
in USB mode, it only accesses the songs put on from itunes right? The problem is I only use spotify now - so if that's the case USB mode won't work for me. *I do have NAV this morning I tried my buddie's iPhone 4 with os5 and it worked fine. my 4S disconnected a bunch though (even though it worked fine last night) |

Hu that is really weird then. I would expect it to run fine if your using AUX mode. Yea USB mode will only access the itunes songs. I usually use Pandora or Spotify through AUX and have no issues at all. I do notice Pandora and Spotify will pause if I drive though crappy service. I wonder if your service is causing the skips but if the iPhone 4 is doing ok then that throws that logic out the window.

This is what happens: 1. start car 2. plug in iphone 3. switch to aux on the idrive screen 4. ipod music starts playing automatically 5. open up spotify - music starts playing from that as it always has 6. couple minutes later it will stop playing through the car - and start playing through the iphone speakers. Sometimes it will switch from aux to the radio when this happens as if it thinks it has lost the connection. 7. unplug phone, plug back in... open spotify - music starts playing as it should 8. randomly 1-2 minutes later rinse and repeat.... this happened the other day, then last night it was fine - worked for a solid 30 minutes without an issue, now today it's back to not working. With my 3GS this never happened. |

I thought maybe the new notification system might be interfering and confusing the phone/car interface so this morning I put it into airplane mode to test it out.
Drove about 25 minutes fine with spotify playing with no issues... then it randomly stopped and the radio turned on. I quit spotify, put the car back into aux mode started it all up again and the issue would come back every minute... so i stopped trying. wtf! |
