I wouldn't expect the Macan to lose so badly. That kind of difference is like an 100+hp difference on same-weight cars. The 600lbs weight difference plus the AWD drivetrain loss is hard to ignore. I would get an M3 instead of a Macan. I see no disadvantages in practicality. Macan would win at stoplights though

This is incorrect. M4 6-MT does 60 in 4.1, per BMW and a bunch of other sites and magazines. Not sure where this faulty info came from. The DCT is great, but not .5 seconds to 60 great.

Ridiculous
This is such a contrived comparison. Apples to oranges. Now we should test both over some gravel, dirt or rocks--the Porsche would prevail because it is an SUV.

Porsche claims the Macan is closer to a 911 than an SUV, so why not pit it against a sedan with similar power? As you can see, at least one person here cross shopped them. |

I don't know why people are complaining. This is a fun little comparison. It's not intended to be a comparison to see which is the better car, it's just a fun little acceleration test!

Right? I know this isn't Steve Sutcliffe/Autocar putting an Alpina tuned 335d against and M3 and the Alpina coming out on top, but I was expecting something like that bias or rigging. Thankfully EVO knows what's up and in my opinion are the best online/magazine car reviewers out there as a whole. Chris Harris is still my favorite single reviewer though.

Capability is not only a matter of track performance. I don't know in your cities, but SUVs in my city are driven faster most of the time, because they are more capable to circulate on roads that are not in the best condition. What Porsche tried to do with the Macan is without a doubt interesting, I don't know yet at what degree they accomplished it, but a SUV that drives like (or close) a car is something premium brands should be aimed to offer.
That's a reason some people like me, are deciding whether to go for a M3/Cayman/Macan |

I'm in the market soon to replace my 997, and I am cross shopping the new M4, new Cayman GTS, used 991 S. If the M4 wasn't so big I don't think I would think twice. Hilarious to say that, but after being in 911 it feels so much bigger. The M4 is a beast for the money, but its hard to think I wouldn't have a 911 in the garage... I caught the Porsche bug unfortunately. To get back on topic, the Macan Turbo will be my wife's next car so I can drive it. They look so good in person IMO
