Remote Software Upgrade
Hello all,
I’ve recently received notification of a new software update that I’ve downloaded to my phone (iPhone13) When trying to upload the update to the car via the MyBMW app is telling me there is no WiFi connection and therefore can’t perform the update. I’ve tried all the usual reset the I idrive, removed and re-paired the phone and WiFi both Bluetooth and WiFi are active but still no luck. Has anyone come across this before and is the a fix? Called the BMW Connected drive team and they had no idea. Called the dealer and they are useless. 72 plate F40 128ti Any help would be appreciated Thanks. |

If this is using an iphone, BMW added a specific section to the install instructions about this… it needs thd phone to be connected using both wifi and bluetooth at the same time, and, if I remember correctly, you can see the relevant notes in the installation information contained within the relevant message in the MyBMW app…

Sadly that’s the issue. The Wi-Fi simply won’t connect when using iPhone13. Or at least the MyBMW app doesn’t thinks it’s connected therefore the update won’t begin.
I found a workaround by using an old android phone to install the update. Bluetooth, apps and Wi-Fi connected with no issues. So definitely an Apple issue. Even after the update wi-fi is activated but as far as the myBMW app on iPhone 13 is concerned there is no connection. I never had this issue with the iPhone11. Thanks for getting back to me 👍 |
