I wish the nest app would log internal temperatures that would make it helpful to see how much my temoeratur drops overnight. It does show when the heating kicks in though, so I could set it to eg 16/17 overnight and see how often the hearing comes on to maintain that temperature vs how early it starts in the morning without doing that. And if I do that for a few days, it'd log how many hours it spends heating too so you could compare.
Currently I have it set to 9c overnight (basically off) |

My in laws have theirs on 20 all the time, day and night, I've stayed over at their house and have to open a window in the winter, it's so uncomfortable.
Mine sits at 15 overnight then comes on at 6am ramps up to 19 until 7am when it drops back to 15 for the day whilst at work, then comes on at 4pm ramps up to 19 until 10pm when it drops back to 15 overnight. If working at home for the day (like today hooray!!) I just override it to 19 for the day. |

I have mine on a programmable thermostat.
So 20°C when home, 17°C when at work and at night. Just click it up if home outside of that. I am considering a smart thermometer, so I can click it up before I get home, but I think I'll wait until the whole 'Home automation' thing settles down a bit first Not sure of the efficiency of doing this, but when I moved in to my house a few years back, it took an age to warm up. Now it doesn't!!

I installed TADO a few months ago, took an hour that's all. It does temperature logging and allows for different temperatures thought the day etc. It also uses location tracking via your mobile phone. So if everyone goes out it switches off the heating and then restarts when it sees you are coming home.
TADO looks at the weather forecast and works out when to start the boiler. I have found it to be very accurate in it's control once it learns the thermal characteristics of your house. Our house is well lagged and it only drops 1-2C overnight. So set points are 17C overnight (but it never drops that low), 21C morning and night and 20C in the day. I have been really impressed so far! Last edited by Ti Rich; 01-14-2016 at 07:50 AM.. |

Claims to pay for it'self in just over a year. If you want water control however that requires an add on module. |
