Do I need to unplug the negative terminal, or both the negative and positive terminal? I've done it on cars before and I do both just to make sure, but the positive terminal is pretty hard to access for this car.

Unplug neg should be fine.

Only negative will do the trick! Make sure you leave it unplugged for at least 3-5 min!
