PROJECT M3
I got it! It arrived a little early. I have set a target weight loss of 200lbs for my girl. I know she can do it. Over the next few weeks I'll be changing a few things. Each item I remove an item to replace with aftermarket, it will be weighed and posted here for reference. edit: I'll be happy if she can shed 150 lbs... For now, I can't help myself, I'm going back out. Initial impression (as a former Proceeded 335 owner) was that I was thoroughly blown away. Contrary to some reports, the low end is there... the car is an absolute screamer and I've never felt more connected to the road.... Dealership Experience: I had the unique experience of working with two dealerships on this car. Some of you may remember that through the help of members here, I located an available buildable allocation that was posted by a CA who happened to be a member here. Thanks to Xcellere, I was put in touch with Ellen Montgomery of South Bay BMW, who assisted with a courtesy delivery(when other local dealerships wouldn't) I was very impressed with the professional and helpful CA Michael McCormick from BMW of Stratham in NH. He promptly updated me with status and was in constant communication with me throughout the whole process. Vinnie Micciche, the dealership business manager, was equally communicative and a straight shooter. I was very impressed with the service received from both dealers. Aesthetics: I must confess, I was worried that it wouldn't stand out from the generic 3er enough, all of my worries quickly faded after a once around in real life. SSII changes from a silver-gray on a cloudy or dimly lit morning to a horizon blue on a sunny day, I'm thrilled by the beautiful color. The extended silver interior turned out to be a grand-slam with the aluminum trim on SSII! The color of the leather, like the painted skin, seems to change hue in different lighting conditions. The extended leather option was worth it for me because I enjoy having the soft texture of the leather on the dash and console, it also livens up the interior. I couldn't be happier with the ext./int. color combination. Driving Experience: I also will admit that I was somewhat concerned, after coming from a tuned 335 putting out ~400 ft. lbs. to the wheel, that there could possibly be some slim sliver of truth to all of the posts from unimpressed 335 owner's who test drove the M.... Well, I'm here to tell you that they were all wrong. The M just has a different type of power delivery. It does not fade at higher rpm like in the boosted N54. In the M, the driver has complete confidence going into a turn at speed, knowing the car will remain flat. You get the feeling of reassurance by the car's close & constant feedback, and like you've heard before, you just point it and it goes... and ...the sound of the motor is worth every penny! Disappointments: Heated seats don't get hot enough? No rear armrest? Weight-Saving Changes: Exhaust: Wheels: cf bootlid: cf hood Brembo BBK:

Congratulations.
That interior was my first choice, the extended silver looks good.

How does it compare to your previous 335. I just bought a 335 cvt (2 months old), also have a 550i. I ordered an e90 M3 to be delivered early April. I had a short test drive in one yesterday and was immediately convinced....

Hey I noticed you got the premium sound system. How does it compare to the Logic7 in your 335i? Would you spend $1,900 again to buy it?
