Austin Yellow F82 v Phoenix Yellow E46

Some real life pics of the new M4 in Austin Yellow DCT and E46 M3 manual in Phoenix yellow. Both look superb. I drove them back to back. Both are superb drives, but very different. The win for me is the E46 M3, just feels more connected to what I want it to do.

Both cars.

I love a clean stock E46 M3.

The difference in size between both are also obvious in these pics.

I have an AY M4, and a near pristine carbon black e46. The e46 is a much more raw car, you def get more feedback when driving it. I have been offered $35k for my e46 (very low mi) and would not part with it for even much more than that. Bear in mind the m4 is a beast, but more modern, less connected car. Enjoy the Phoenix yellow, love it!

I've always wondered the same thing and I actually thought that BMW uses the same exact paint code for AY, but they are really two different paint codes even though both color look very similar.

Phoenix Yellow's paint code is 445.
Austin Yellow's paint code is B67.

PY looks like a slightly faded version of AY. cool cars. I had an e46 m3 for a while, carbon black and manual. loved it but was time to move on and I am not ready to start accruing cars just yet. thanks for the comparo!

First time I saw Austin Yellow in the flesh (at the Montreal car show in early 2014), I thougt it looked like the more modern and dynamic of Phoenix Yellow. These pictures seem to confirm my impression.

Really loved my E46 as I do my F82 .

Love them both but AY has more depth and makes PY look a little dull and flat.
