2016 M4 US Delivery

Hey guys,
New here but I ordered an M4 from my dealer about a week ago. Pretty normal right? I originally thought I was ordering a 2015 but CA told me it's for a 2016 with a promised delivery date of mid July. Now I know this is unlikely after browsing through the forums since it looks like production for 2016 begins on 7/15/2015 (the promised delivery date), but I just want to hear from the forum on the likeliness of this happening. Could this be a demo vehicle? Or am I being dicked around and need to find a new dealer?

Double check ur paperwork. It probably is for a '15 since the production for the '16 hasn't started yet. But it could be a possibility...

A few 16' M3s have gone into production but I haven't seen any reports of M4s going into production yet. Even those M3s that started aren't due to finish till early July meaning they wouldn't make it over here till late July at the earliest. Mid july definitely seems to be unrealistic for a 2016 delivery.

Perhaps your CA was confused and actually meant that production would start mid july. I'd send him an email (or call) and ask for your Production # and Build Week, those things would give you a better idea of when you might expect the car.

I talked to BMW today (800#) and my MY16 M4 just went into Production (150) although he couldn't give me a VIN yet; suggesting I need to call back in a day or two once their systems update.

But you are correct - at the earliest I'll see it is late July/early August.

I talked to a rep today and she confirmed I was still week 27 so hopefully will be starting soon! Late July / Early August would be awesome, much earlier than expected.

I was given a production number and status 112 last week... Am I right to assume that the status updates go in increments of 1?

Nope. Next would be 150 generally. There is a post around here that gives the different status numbers.

Also, along with the production number you should have gotten a production week. Or something that looks like this - YYYY/MM/WK 2015/07/27. 27th week of the year 2015 or the last week of June 29th to July 3rd (ish). In a 112 status it is the next most important thing to know...when should your status change! It seems it is a week or two before that week.
