Tire Question 225 instead of 215?
Hi Guys,
I been looking on the forums and I seems like you guys are very pleased with the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Now the question I have is that BMW has listed the fronts as 215/40R 18 85Y and the rears as 245/35R 18 88Y. I have searched high and low and I cannot find the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s in the listed 215 nominal width, although on tirerack I did find I can purchase the Michelin tires in 225 nominal width size. Can I just purchase these instead and go on my way? Or will I run into trouble in terms of mounting and installation? So basically the question is can I put 225s in the front instead of 215 on stock style 264 rims? Any input would be much appreciated! Thanks |

225 will fit very nicely. BMW should have gone with 225/40 F and 255/35 R from the start. just IMO.

Anyone running 235/35 Front and 265/35 or 265/30 rear on stock wheels?
I've heard people do it, but can't find anyone to validate. |

I'm thinking that 235s on 7.5" fronts and 265s on 8.5" rears is going to be pretty pinched. You might need to move up to 8" fronts and 9" rears to fit those properly.

I'm running 265/35 in the rear with 225/40 in the front. MPSS. Great tires.
The right rear does rub on occasion when driving hard and hitting a incline or dip. It only happens every once in awhile and not badly. If you had the radio on you'd probably never hear it. I posted some pics in the best tire thread. |

225/40-18's for the front and 255/35-18 for the rear on my 135i also.
But, I do notice that these sizes are taller, have more side wall then the OEM sizes. JMO I like the OEM look better than this current setup. Of course, the OEM bridgestones have a great look to them. My current tires are the Conti Extreme Contact DW's. |

225/255 is a common upgrade. You'll be perfectly fine.

For 18s a 35 series tire would better.
