i was reading my motor trend issue of september and it said "the is is being prepaired to take on BMW's forthcomming M3 and the next generation C-class AMG" pg26
do you think that car can even compeat with the 330? i know this has been talked about before but do you think ittl actually take the m3 ao the c-amg? i think toyota is trying to do something they are not used to doing. |

According to Edmunds.com, the IS350 is not even a match for the e90 330i, so forget about it aiming for even the current M3 and current C-class AMG. Maybe when it comes with a manual transmission and VDIM that can be disabled, then it can compete with the 330i. |

Nothing can give you the feel of the ultimate driving machine! Only a BMW lets you feel "connected" with the road. There is no substitute for a BMW. I have driven them all and getting rid of a C32 Benz as of today for this car!

Now would be the perfect time for a higher preformace Lexus IMO beacuse the Lexus line is pretty much all new so it would have been easy to plan and execute.
I think I read somewhere that the LS is going to be alot more aggressive than in the past...wheels, bumper, hybrid ect....V12 like power even...maybe telling of things to come Pressure from other makers might push Lexus also to go after M cars (SVT, SS Chevy, SRT10, AMG, M, STI, and on and on...). I don't know the profit on cars like this but it seems if everyone else is doing it there must be money to be made. Toyota just released the Lexus line in Japan for the first time...so maybe they are needing a higher profile. Going after M power would bring pride to the brand...if they can pull it off (don't think so) |

lexus has never had anything to do with performance autos or fun to drive cars.
people who buy lexuses don't give a crap about driving dynamics, they'll never have a "high performance division" because they don't know what the hell high performance is they won't even let you turn off the damn traction control |

I heard from a friend of mine who just bought a 05 IS300 that lexus will come out with IS250, IS350, and IS350 GT....
Lexus/Toyota is the second biggest automaker in the world... they can make some good performance cars but they don't want to. Simply because the profit is not enough for them. They aim for older folks who want a smooth and comfortable cars who are mostly rish anyways. |

I don't follow F1, but if they're both just engine suppliers, I think there's enough other factors involved that it's silly to say who's better. |

No Toyota supplies the whole car and BMW is an engine supplier for Williams. I know there are a lot of variables, but what I am trying to say is don't doubt for one second that Toyota couldn't bulid a damn fast car if shareholders/business plans/marketing strategies etc weren't part of the equation. We get caught up in this BMW hype and forget that BMW is where they are because it was a business first and a car manufacturer second. I learned a lot reading "BMW Cars" by Martin Buckly. He does a great job explaining why BMW is where they are today.....

I just got done reading a review of the IS350 in Car and Driver, and they said it was a very good car, but it didn't quite have the steering feel of the BMW.
Then again, I also read in another article that the that the E90 didn't quite have the steering feel of the old E36, so would it be safe to assume that Lexus isn't far off these days? Don't get me wrong, I don't like Lexus at all, but BMW is going to have to be at the top of their game from now on because Infiniti and Lexus are closing the gap. I think the E90 is still the benchmark sports sedan, but it's getting harder and harder to justify the price premium these days. |

I make it a point to test drive just about everything, and no one's even close to what BMW does yet. |
