M Performance exhaust tips
Am I right in saying you can get M Perf exhaust tips that are larger than stock?
Looking to replace the ones on my F31 335d with them if you can. If you can, are the stock ones just held on with a bracket and screw? Anyone know what the part number is (if there is such a thing that fits an F31 3 eries). Cheers |

I believe that the M140i tips have been fitted before now but the real issue is the space or lack of in the diffuser cut out, bigger ones may foul each other or the diffuser. For some reason I think Watsey may have fitted the M140 ones.

I thought about getting them when I first got my 328i last year but when I looked them up on the BMW website using my VIN number it said they were incompatible and only for cars with the M performance silencer. I asked a parts department as well and they also said the tips are for fitting to the M performance silencer as it has slightly bigger pipes at the back meaning they would be too loose on my standard silencer so I didn't bother in the end and left it standard.

If you are pre LCi the diameter of the twin tailpipes is less than the Post LCi, you have to be careful what tips you use.
I tried the 440i tips on mine (pre LCi) and they were far too big, but they are likely to fit the later cars with the larger diameter pipes by opening the clips up a bit. To remove the tips, they are a push fit, so small block of wood behind the rear edge and a tap with a hammer will move them. |
