I think its like 12 states where you need co.sent from all parties if its a situation where privacy is expected. It's a.pretty lame law

Sorry for your luck, but that is why I don't do dark tint. Other than a bright color dark tint is what attracts cops most, you can thanks thugs and drug dealers for that. As for checking tires and telling you not to speak, that's just idiotic. He was just upset tint was all he got you for. Be lucky you didn't have a loud exhaust too lol

That's why the first thing you tell a cop is, oh just to let you know there is a recording device in my car. That's when you bust out your GoPro suction mount (event tho it's not on) and point to it.

I have a couple of uncles in CA that are cops. They hate cars with tinted windows, especially modified cars that are lowered. You never know if a gun is pointing at you. Their recommendation is to place both hands out the window if you are pulled over with tints.

Yes, the officer was a pr!ck based on the story presented. Maybe his wife ran away with a BMW driver that morning.

Excellent reminder. Just remember that sword can cut both ways, be very careful what you say/admit to yourself on that recording!

Not really relevant to recording someone without their knowledge/consent.

Of course you'd be fine in all 50 if you specifically tell/show the office that you're recording, but I'm not sure it'd be wise. Best case is you guarantee yourself a ticket instead of a warning, and worst case you piss him off even more and he nails you for everything he can find (all by the book).

#1 Rear side windows non/transparent
#2 Sidewings/sidewindows/non/transparent

Not going to court getting it "removed" and the papers signed off on. Not a big deal just a hassle

20%, im almost ready to change to 35% like my old car the black interior really makes it darker

Right on!

i really need to get a doctors note for the tint

good call. I bet most tints are too dark and most people get pissed when they get a ticket for it?????? You are doing the smart and reasonable thing. Sounds lik eth ecop was a dick though.

It was a joke - on the TV you always see a nice police officer get hit by the drunk driver, never a dick. If a drunk driver is going to crash into someone, at least it could be another a**hole.

Treat others how you would like to be treated yourself. Apparently the cop that pulled over the OP doesn't abide by that rule, so he'll get what is coming to him some day.

So he had a tint meter....Is one window darker than the other? The back windows maybe a tad darker and he got you for 2?
I have ran into some prick cops before but this is bad. Good thing he didn't smash your tail lights like the good ole' days hee haww
Definitely go to court, this is a principle thing and for your self pride. Don't just let them do whatever they want on the roads. Safety is their job, not fuck with whoever they want.

Here is another suggestion, if you see a copy pull down your windows if your tinted. Our 540i is tinted and so far we have had 3 tickets but that was a few years ago and everytime I see a cop on the side of the road I pull down all the windows right away.

I believe this only applies if the conversation is in private or over a wire. When pulled over, both parties are in a public place.

Yup, normally only applies when there is an expectation of privacy. However some states still prohibit recording law enforcement. In my opinion you should definitely be able to video tape or audio record anything you ever do. If someone is embarrassed about something they did, that is their fault. Act as if your actions will be on the front page of tomorrow's newspaper.

That second ticket is BS. In NY only the windshield and front driver and pass windows are regulated.

You probably have a LOT of posts to read through, but here is my legal advise:

If they were fixit tickets, who cares

Real tickets, go to court, OR submit a letter of innocence. Many times cops will dismiss the case rather than go after a silly little tint ticket.
IF the cop actually holds the case, go to court, you will most likely not have to pay anything if you can prove to the judge that the guy was being a dick and didnt have the safety of the larger population in mind when he gave u those tickets (mention how many people were speeding right in front of the officer and he decided to pull you over for a non-hazardous offense)

a real cop, ones that fight crimes like drugs and guns are usually not like that. some of these traffic cops think they are tough and those are the ones that will get their face red when you tell them something... a real tough cops are ones that are nice to people they are supposed to be nice to, but brick walls to those that actually commit CRIME.

just like anything else in human life tough ones know they are tough and no need to prove themselve. when its time to get down, they know whoop ass will be dispenced. then the wimps tend to talk tough. even in cops there are vastly different classes of people....

you happen to meet the latter. totally feel you OP. goto court and chances are he wont be at court. issuing two tickets for tint while walking around all tough checking tires is weaksauce. especially while speeding cars are let go. did not want to deal with pursuit i guess.

wimps.
