Reversing Pause?

Just picked up my e92 335i few days ago. Today when i was parking in reverse and the sensors were going off the car kinda paused by itself when i didnt hit the break.

Let me explain again. I let go of the break while im in reverse and when the sensors are beeping, the car stops by itself and kinda moves very slowly. and pauses again. not really jerky but just felt funny. Is this normal?

I believe this is "hill assist".

how do i turn it off? but i was on flat land in a indoor parking lot...
