M135I or Golf R mk7.5

any suggestion between those 2 cars ?

well obviously im on bmw forum so the opinions will be more bimmer

the thing is im on target of €25k second hand used Golf R, i can go a little be more for the f40 m135i , it is more expensive around 26-27k

BUT i'm a bit concern about the tuning of this engine b48 , it seems quite low gains compare to the ea888 of the vag group .

so any honest opinions ?

Depends on what you want really. if you want a solid tune, then go for the golf. in my eyes, the interior of the golf is hideous and has unpleasant plastic all over the place. B48 is a solid engine, but dont expect to get more than 400hp out of it. and it needs a transmission tune aswell to remove the torque limiters.

I didn’t want to comment but I know someone who’s got rid of her last two new Golfs because of build quality. 😬

Yes, build quality and overall touch and feel (looks aswell, but that's more subjective) is far superior in the BMW.

well obviously , quality wise bmmer is far better , but mk7.5 is not that bad , now if i can achieve at least 380hp with the b48 it will be surprisingly good and enough for me , but im afraid is not that easy , when for the golf it is an easy number .

i need to test drive one M135i, i got before m140i b58 different car .

for the Golf R i know very good how it is , i owned before two times .

For 380+hp you would need a downpipe and probably an OPF delete, since it's the restrictive component here. Guess everything over 400 is not possible due to the turbo being at max capacity. But i have never seen a B48 with that much power, so its just a guess. B48 is just not the engine of choice, when you can go for a B58 instead.

Nice one mate , thanks for the info .

so straight remap it should be around 350hp , not a fan of downpipe .

i was looking remap , intake and remus exhaust , i doubt if i can achieve this number with these mods .

B58 is just on an other level in terms of power and gains.

A Stage 1 with OPF and stock downpipe is 350-365hp, depending on the tune. To be fair, with OPF even B58 has its limits. B48 is basically the same engine with 2 cylinders less. Pretty solid base if you ask me. If you wanna know, what the engine (although not much of the original engine remains) is capable of, google for BMW P48.
