313 m sport rims purchased. Hairline cracks..
Saw a fresh gumtree advert for these rims and quickly bought them as ive been waiting 6 months for a seller...
In the process I didn't really notice hairline cracks on one of the rims nor did the seller inform me. I would of most likely still purchased these with the cracks anyway. Purchase price was $1000 inc fresh tyres. Anyone have experience with repairing their rims? approx 1psi loss per hour.

Shit! 1 psi loss per hour is a lot.
Cracks like this are very common on BMWs running 19 inch wheels and runflat tyres. When going over potholes the solid sidewall of the runflat tyres puts a lot of stress on the rims, because the sidewall is very strong and has no absorbance to the bumps at all. My cousin had one crack on his 225m wheels and got fixed at a place in Richmond in Melbourne. They can be welded, I think he paid about $200 iirc How many cracks do you have and on how many wheels? I think the seller should have definitely brought it to your attention Oh well.. congrats on the new wheels, I was actually in the market for 313m wheels, but I want the 18 inches off a LCI 125i/135i. Because I think the 19 inch version of the 313m is too heavy (too much unsprung weight lol) |

Uhhh you realize that you have a turkey just hanging out on your driveway, right??
As for the hairlines, those can be repaired. Find a good wheel shop locally and speak with them about the repair. Due to the rubber band sized tired that goes onto OE 19's, these cracks and bends are quite common. |

Are they genuine rims?
Is it the front or rear rims that's cracked? You often see them for sale on their own (mainly fronts more so than the rears.. |

I would ask for your money back. To have a leak that bad the seller definitely knew.
But you should have inspected them closely, so, I suppose seller beware sometimes. Sure you can weld them up, but it will cost you more, and be technically illegal (not that that stops most of us from what we do to our cars), well illegal in Vic anyway, not sure about the other states. |

Man with 4 x cracks you have no chance of a reliable repair and a buckle also...
I had an expensive JDM advan rim crack on me also, had it repaired as it was an uber rare rim and was no longer manufactured but it leaked/cracked again after 12 months... considering what you paid for a set of desirable rims you got a good price, spend $500-800 to get a replacement rear rim? |

OP, seller will probably say he never knew there was an issue with them, or he'll say that he gave you the freedom to properly inspect them and you didn't notice the cracks. Hence it's your fault for not inpecting properly before purchasing.. Etc.
Imho you won't get anywhere with the seller, but you could give it a shot anyway Quote:
I was comparing the wheel weights last week, and I found out I'll be saving 5kg per corner if I went with something like Volks TE37 vs OEM style 162 I am running now.. Massive reduction in unsprung weight which will probably reflect in better braking, acceleration, conrnering... etc. |

I know its not a good feeling when you buy second hand and this happens, but really - We should be angry at BMW.
There are several wheel styles lately that commonly develop cracks... If it were known widely, they would have issue a recall for them. Cracked wheels can drive fine sometimes, but you never know how close they are to a catastrophic failure. Not really acceptable on a $100k+ car. |

Hmmm I get may be like 1 psi loss every 6-8 weeks, sometimes not even. Usually all my other cars I've owned before saw a lot more loss than the current wheels/tyre package on the Beemer.
I am running some shit quality runcraps made in Thailand and style 162 wheel 18 inch staggered fitment. Planning to swap to non-runflats soon and much lighter wheels. |

I agree. The 313 styles are prone to cracks from what i understand now, especially with low profile/runflat tyres.
My heavy oem 18s have hit countless potholes even at high speed and are fine. Talked to bmr was told to get them repaired at "all aluminum welding" chipping Norton. |

Sorry no but if you trawl gumtree/ebay they'll pop up eventually.
I was going to buy a replacement 313 rim for $250 (front) that was liste don gumtree with a RFT fitted to use as a spare so that my spare matched my set but I decided to sell my 313's and didnt bother buying it. |

Having said that it's still mounted with a 30 series RFT if you hit potholes, road dbris etc you're going to bend/crack any rim forged or not... |

They were 19 x 8.5 and were under 10 Kg (by memory they were 9-9.5Kg) each, looked great and I actually noticed the difference in terms of braking and acceleration. |
