Millions would forget and have their wipers sucked off. It can't rain that much in MA can it?

petesamprs, great job. You can add my name/vin/address/phone/whatever to that letter. Very, very nice job. I have no doubt this letter will get recognition within BMW. It's rich in substance and too uncommon and novel for it not to get attention. It's a product manager's dream. I looking forward to the feedback and more important, the requests implemented by BMW.

Reading through the letter again I noticed the last bullet point. My caller ID is shown when I get a call waiting call if I'm using bluetooth. Is this not happening in other cars? I have heard problems with the call waiting dropping calls but never with the caller ID. I'm just curious.

Good job dude. Seems to me that this is shaping up to be more of a petition that rather a simple courtesy letter. Would it be more substantive to gather VINs/names of parties who wish to endorse the letter?

- I can't decide whether it would be worth the effort to collect names and VINs. It's one of those diminishing return tasks - we'll get like 30 in a day, then 5 the next day, then 1 each day for a week. We probably need at least 100 to be effective, since the letter cites "hundreds" of owners. We definitely have over 100 here (see the poll running now on who owns their e90), but do you think at least 100 people will contribute? I frankly doubt it.

- Can anyone else confirm RINALDS point regarding call waiting? I don't have the integrated phone so I was taking it on face value from another member.

- RINALDS: can you explain your folding mirrors point more?

- From another post, I believe Poldim mentioned that the clown nose blink is in fact a HARDWARE issue (ie, requires alarm hardware) that software alone cannot fix. If anyone can dispute that, I'll add it.

I'll post up v3 shortly. I'm going to take out Bluetooth issues since that seems to be fixed.

You can have it turned on in the E46 without the alarm.

I'm sure it's coming for the e90.

I would like it to work more like the windows. If you hold the unlock button on the fob long enough the windows and sunroof will open. I think it would be great if we could program the mirrors to fold in and out using the fob. example: when you get out of the car and hold down the lock button it will lock the car automatically and if you hold it down for an extra 3 seconds it will fold up the mirrors and when you return and unlock the car if you hold it down for 3 seconds they automatically unfold. Apparently if you use the actual key to lock/unlock the car it does this but not with the fob.

I'm not sure how that would work with CA since I don't have it but I would assume you would just keep your hands on the grooves for a few extra seconds to have the mirrors work as I noted above.

I may not be explaining it very clearly. This thread might help: http://e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11880

To be honest I think even 10 names and VINs would be more effective than just signing a signle name. I recommend collecting names and VINs with a one week deadline. As a former product manager, you just don't get nice packages like this about customer feedback without paying tens of thousands of dollars. I think you'd be surprised how much of an impact a small group of people can make. For example, I know there have been threads here on e90post about a problem and BMWNA posted an official response saying they would look into the problem.

Want to help me collect them? I don't think everyone would be comfortable adding that info in a thread but maybe we can start new thread asking people to PM either me or you their name and VIN by the end of this week (Friday). Perhaps the other boards (bimmerfest, e90fanatics) might wish to contribute as well.

Listen buddy. I have owned both brand new and used BMW's since 1985. I have been through all of the crap associated with these cars. I know what works and doesn't work. What doesn't work is some suggestive letter to BMW. Forget about it. As evidenced by my E24 moniker I'm a fan of the orignal 6-series and have owned 3. The last was a 1988 example with 28,000 miles when I sold it. My dad had a brand new 85 that was a pain in the ass. My family has owned 3's, 5's, 6's and even a 7. We keep coming back to the brand. God knows why. The letter is an utter waste of time. Trust me. A letter to your local Chili's might garner you a free meal. A letter to BMW will go in the circular - certified or not. Been there and done that. You may think that you can change the world with a letter like this but you are simply blowing smoke up someone's ass. Spend your time on more productive endeavors.

Guess I'm new the BMW game so I still have hope. Frankly I really haven't wasted much time on this. I'm on the site a lot anyway so keeping up with this wasn't too big a deal, plus an hour crafting the letter. Should send it out tomorrow and hope for the best.

Sure, I can post something on bimmerfest. I'm not sure we'll get VINs, nor do I think it's that important. Just names and locations is probably good enough for this letter. The letter you put together is excellent and adding some more names simply gives it more credibility. Just PM me and we'll get the ball rolling.

I don't think we can count on E24 to help out. From his previous message and avatar it looks like he'd rather spend his time watching "Brokeback Mountain" then give feedback to BMW; not that there is anything wrong with that.

I definitely think this should be included.
My caller ID doesn't come up on the screen. I have to manually press the button on my phone to switch to my other call as well. For example I will hear the "tone" for call waiting, but no Caller ID on my IDrive screen. Then I'll have to grab my phone view who is calling and press the button on the actual phone to switch over.

Keep in mind I don't have CIP 20, only at 19 right now.

CIP 20 is happening next week and I can post results when I get it.

I don't have iDrive. Perhaps that's the reason I don't have a problem with mine.
