340 mpg numbers?

I did not buy my 340 for gas mileage numbers, but have been amazed in my first 1700 miles at how well it is doing. Now, truthfully, I have not been on it very hard so far, but in mixed city/highway driving I am averaging almost 28 mpg - astounding for a car like this - and over 30 on one tank where I did more highway driving. I suppose those numbers will drop in pure city driving and if I use the power more, but this is an economical car if driven on highways or carefully. Not bad at all.

Awesome news. I'm coming out of 13.2 mpg. Picking up tomorrow now after getting hit by a blizzard today.

I'm getting 25 mpg in mixed driving through the first two fill ups.

After 4 fill ups I'm at 27 mpg and expect my 5th tank to be 28+. 1st tank from the dealer averaged 28.2 mpg with over 60% highway driving.

Note that these numbers are actual calculated numbers.

Yup; around 24-25 in mixed commute driving, but around 30 on the highway. Close to 35 mpg if you are hypermiling (e.g. <60mph, very ginger on the throttle input, accelerate slightly on downhills, slow down on uphills, etc.).

On the stock Conti summer RFT's I was getting about 25.5MPG in mixed driving.
With Conti DWS-06 UHP AS tires I am getting 27mpg with same driving, same routes.

Compared to my 335i the MPG is about the same, though I expected a bit more as I believe BMW claimed a 10% increase in MPG over the 335i, iirc.

Unfortunately there is only one car being tracked. I find Fuelly to be a better place to look than manufacturers.

Mine is on Fuelly, but for some reason won't show up on the searches. I've sent them a couple of requests to add the 340i to their database.
