Having a code clearing issue. I have a P2fa3 code error and I cannot clear it. Tried 'clear codes' and 'reset ecu' but neither cleared the code. Anything else I should try?

That code will remain as long as you're running the Cobb maps... when/if you uninstall the software, for visiting the dealer etc., it will clear itself. I believe it's something like a 'tuner code.'

Yesterday, while in 2.02 Alt V2, I revved up to about 5.5k rpms in third and got a SES light. The car was stuttering/shaking like crazy, took it easy around a turn and the SES light turned off, then was normal again until about 3k. I got to work, parked and checked again in the afternoon, same issue, shaking like crazy. My friend brought me my Cobb (had forgotten it at home, of course) It showed Misfire Cylinder 2, cleared the codes, uninstalled the Cobb (to take to the dealer) and haven't gotten any SES since...?? Hopefully it was just a fluke? Gonna load a different map to see if it happens again tomorrow. Anyone else seen this? Since the code is cleared, I'm not gonna take it in right away..or should I?

Have you had your injectors/HPFP recall service performed? It could be that... or it could be your spark plugs or coils, alot of possibilities... how many miles are on your car?

Ugh. Sorry, I never got an email that anyone responded to this.I just got the car about 1500 miles ago...currently has 17,3xx. From the service history my dealer got me this is what it shows:

@15,222 miles N54 Programming HDP, B13 09 10

I have no idea if that means the HPFP was changed out or if it was just the injectors. Everything else done to the car has just been standard maintenance. etc.

That just a software update and nothing else. Ask your dealer if you're eligible for the recall work on injectors and HPFP.

Will do, going in for a bunch of piddly warranty work on Tuesday, perfect timing. I appreciate your help, I'll let you know...It kind of sucks that the Cobb clears the codes when you uninstall, it would be nice to have those stored and be in stock mode when I bring it in. I've been trying to get that SES light to come back with no luck.

I have no experience with this but couldn't you just say that sometimes if you are in higher RPMS the car shutters and shakes like crazy? They would logically look for the same things and see if something is up with them. If there is a recall and your car hasn't got it, they'd likely replace it since you are illegable for the recall no matter wheather an issue is actively present or not.

Pretty sure that what he's experiencing is only when running on the tuned maps... stock map won't stress the fueling enough to highlight the weakness that's causing the problem to begin with.

f1rst 1 - not sure how you're wrenching skills are, but the easy thing to do is swap the coilpack from cylinder 2 with another cylinder and see if misfire follows the coil. Alternately, you can pull the spark plug out and take a look at it...

That's what I think I'll do, I know the codes are clear and there are none stored, but if it sounds to them like what the HPFP going out normally sounds like I think they'd prolly just do it.

I've heard that coilpacks are super easy to replace/swap, if the dealership doesn't find anything, I'll definitely try swapping that out. It's so nice to have the Cobb with it's diagnostics tool...love that.

Can someone explain what all of these metrics mean on that the COBB AP measures? And what normal levels of each should be for our cars?

Any additional info would be great too like:

What mods impact which metrics, what is physically going on in the engine with respect to each metric, etc...

AFR- I don't know what they're targeting in the tune, but it is useful to track. If it is too high under full boost you could have issues. Cruising it should be right at 14.7. I think the tune targets around 12:1 under full boost, probably richer (lower number) at higher RPM for cooling purposes. If you see leaner (higher) than 13 at full boost and mid to high RPM you probably have an issue.

MAF - Stands for mass air flow. Unit of measure would be mass over time. Not sure since our cars do not have a MAF. May be calculated MAF based on speed density algorithm. Usually in something like grams per second, or pounds per hour. I haven't bothered logging this, but I would guess grams per second.

Load act. - Actual load level on car. This is most likely MAP times voluentric efficiency, which is a table or set of tables in the ECU, and possibly also accounts for fuel learning. It's how much air is actually in the combustion chamber per combustion event. It's generally highest at peak torque and would be shaped over RPM like your torque curve. This would be MAF divided by RPM.

TPS act. - Actual throttle plate opening percentage. 0 would be fully closed, 100 is probably straight horizontal, 90 degrees.

TPS req. - Request throttle plate (related to accelerator pedal). Since this is a drive-by-wire car, your foot is not directly attached to the throttle plate.

MAP - Manifold absolute pressure. Pressure in your intake manifold. Anything over your barometric pressure would be "boost." Probably in psiA (pounds per square in absolute). Same thing as boost, different unit of measure.

Req. boost abs - Requested boost in absolute pressure. How much boost the car is trying to target. This is controlled by WGDC, and sometimes TPS Act. by the ECU used a closed loop controller.

WGDC - Wastegate duty cycle. The wastegate which controls boost is controlled by two solenoids and they are clicked on and off (pulse width modulated) to control air pressure. By clicking on and off, part of the boost pressure the turbos make is allowed to leak back to the turbos and open the wastegates to keep you from overboosting. The duty cycle regulates the air pressure. Higher WGDC means the car is trying to increase boost. You will see it higher on spool up at lower RPM.

ECT - Engine Coolant Temp, I assume.
