Program New Key Fob with Comfort Access
Hello,
I got a 3rd key fob with my new 325xiT. Two came with car and were delivered at PCD in South Carolina. I picked up the 3rd at the dealership and they said they programmed it. Partially true - it works like a standard key fob but not with Comfort Access features. Any idea how to program my 3rd key to work like the two originals. I took to the dealer today and the Service Advisor said, "What is Comfort Access ?" Both my sales advisor and I started laughing . Service Advisor suggested I bring it back Friday and they'll see if they can figure it out in the mean time - he did say that Comfort Access was really cool when he tried it out. Thanks, Jim 2006 Electric Red 325xiT Sport Wagon |

You got me condufused now. Are you talking about teh extra FOB in the glove compartment with juut a key or truly another FOB? Why would you receive another FOB unless you asked for it? The third FOB is stored in your glove compartment and works to start your car and the means to lock your trunk and glove compartment when you get your car valet or go to the dealership. Correct me if this is not the FOB you are talking about.

It's a 3rd Full Key Fob
Sorry for any confusion. It is a third fully functional key fob and separate from the emergency one in the glove box. I purchased a third one with the car to keep at home.
Why you may ask? They quoted me a price of $60 and I figured it was worth it to always have one away from my briefcase where I keep my key and wallet (with spare key) to get through airport, building... every other blasted security check that goes off with a finger nail sharpner. |

Now I understand! I guess the only way to get them all on the same key(no pun intended) would be at the dealership. I don't recall seeing anything here about another FOB and programming. DId you do a search to see if someone else had the same problem or answers? Try it if not and see. Good luck!

I don't see how you can have 3 key fobs with CA.
CA also adjusts the memory seats and there are only 2 seat settings. Which setting would the third key adjust?

I recently had one key with comfort access go bad. They new ones they ordered would work like a regular key fob. After many trips to dealership they where able to make the second one CA. From what the SA told me, his tech had to not just reprogram the new key but the old one as well. I can look for the service record if you want the exact diagnostic they gave me.

Still Waiting
All,
My SA did say all keys would need to be present, but no solution yet . They called two other dealers and now have a message into BMWNA. What if someone loses a CA key and needs it replaced. It's not like this is a brand new feature - 5's and 7's have it. Will share solution when (if) I get it. Jim 325xiT Electric Red |

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...9&postcount=12 OP - the new fob must be a CA fob which is different to a regular fob. If the service guy didn't know what CA was I don't hold much hope for the rest of the people there.

The seat memory is stored in the key fob. The memory included with the seat is stored somewhere else. At least that is the way it was explained to me. Are the key fobs for CA/non CA cars exactly the same internally? Maybe they ordered the wrong one.

It has to be a CA key FOB
If they gave you a normal one it will never work Does it have a little battery compartment on the back like the other CA Key FOB's ? ( CA keys have replaceable batteries, because they cannot charge in the key slot like non-CA FOBS )

It has to be a comfort access key fob, they have to order keys off of the VIN number so it needs to have the right fob. You cannot program the key for comfort access, it just does it automatically. If it does not work, the solution is perform a bettery reset. Open your trunk and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Leave this unhooked for at least 10 minute. be carefull NOT TO CLOSE THE TRUNK! the release is electric so you will be stuck with a disconnected battery and no way to open the trunk. After the battery reset, the key should work, just go up to the car and start it with the key and then try it. PUMA still doesn't have a workaround, but this has worked on previous E90's.
