VIN #

Does anyone know.....

Are the last 3 or 4 digits of the VIN # those that indicate what number our specific car was built in the a series of Z4s that ran down the assembly line? If so, are they in numerical order (for example, was VIN with last 4 digits 1234 built just after VIN with last 4 digits 1233)?

last 7 digits are referred to the specific model, for number of serial production....it depends from the number of cars produced....
my old 1983 635 had vin 8171258, range was 8170000- 8174999...infact 5000 exemplars were made, and my 30i has vin number e157723....don't know production figures for e89, but I will try to reply to your question....probably 4-5 digits.....
