Front Bumper Respray

I recently had to get my front bumper repaired and resprayed by the dealer. I had the xpel film on prior but now I'm going to have to wait ~60ish days for the paint to cure before getting it reapplied. In the meantime I would like to mitigate as much damage / rocks / chips from the road as I can. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm even thinking about getting a... ugh... leather bra thing for it temporarily (so embarrassing).

What can I do to mitigate any chips while I wait?
Will I really need to wait a full 60 days?
Will there be any issues immediately washing it when I get it back?
Is there an issue with waxing as soon as possible? I use the Collonite 845 (amazing stuff)

Thanks for the help guys.

You need to wait the FULL 60 days to let the gases breath from the paint.

Waxing, applying anything on the paint WILL damage the paint and cause it to bubble.

Wait 60 days, don't tailgate, you'll be fine

Garage List
And avoid driving behind any trucks, can't tell you number of times a truck kicked back some rocks and stones onto my windshield and bumper.

As others have said, don't cover it with anything. Keep your distance from vehicles in front of you. Avoid high-speed expressways if you can.

My new front bumper is being sprayed today. The shop told me to wait at least 30 days... based on this advice I will go ahead and wait 60 days before sealing or waxing.

Any special recommendations for normal washes and daily bug removal? I normally use a detailer to remove bugs between washes. If outgassing is the only concern, and softness of the new finish isn't, than it would seem that typical car wash products would be fine. Any thoughts?

When I got a new bumper for the 128 (Thanks again BMW for replacing it under warranty for a paint defect)...I was told 30 days.

Typically, they bake which speeds up the cure time. If the shop says 30, you can probably trust 30.

For reference, I threw clear bra on my car again at 45 days and have no issues.

As for normal washes, you're fine. I never had an issues handwashing

How do you need a repaint if you have xpel on it already. That is discouraging.

Looks like he needed a repair, followed by a respray, leading me to believe he was in some sort of accident.

This is correct. Hit a piece of metal, caused minor damage but enough to warrant repair.

I have xpel film across the entire hood and front panels as well. I can't express enough how happy I am with it. Just not a lot it (or anything else) can do against anything with significant mass! Don't take this as a negative towards xpel. The film is superb.

Good feedback. I was wondering if VentureShield was as good, but everyone is pointing towards Xpel. Might buy it in bulk from eBay and apply it to the sensitive spots on the car myself.

Oh ok cool. I had heard great things about xpel. Obviously it won't repel huge damage, I didn't know you had damage, I thought the paint just got messed up somehow.

Can't comment on that. I just kept hearing good things about using xpel over the classic 3m. But my understanding at the time was that 3m was modifying their whole formula (this was strictly rumor of course - I don't know the inner workings of 3m)

Zero paint issues anywhere the film is applied. It's all good.
