Yes the steuern_soundtuning_deak function only reduces the timed decel pops to 0. The immediate pop and "brrrtt" sound is a different function and has a bit of use for revhang purposes among things.

That's actually one of the driving forces behind a full on tune for me. Extra power is great too but I'm eagerly waiting for the DME unlock to be able to adjust things such as throttle response, soundtuning, and other electronic nannies.

Bimmerlink is only for the S55, does not work on the N55.

Any way to shut off the farts other than a full tune?

Funny to see this old thread and realize I'm not the only one who considered the noises this car made stock to be juvenile and embarrassing. Thank goodness for tuning.

I leave my MPE open 100% of the time, and prefer sport mode for the throttle blips (they seem to be disabled in comfort). If not, I'd drive in comfort mode as you get a tiny burble which is fine.

I would have thought Sport+ would have been more aggressive, but Sport has the same amount of burbles and traction mode.

I didn't realize bimmerlink doesn't work on the N55. Its an ideal solution, to be able to flip it on or off on demand. So next ideal solution is no burbles on sport, normal burbles on sport+.

I hate to spend $600 just to tune it out.

This is likely the routine that bimmercode or bimmerlink are using.

In Tool32 the job status_soundtuning_deak will tell you if it's active (0) or burble inactive (1)
Use this method for your car but instead with the MEVD172Y.PRG file for N55. Same instructions.
