Anyone else think the LCI’s glovebox cover (possibly earlier models also I’m not sure) is unecessarily thin? It feels flimsy and light, unlike the standard substantial feeling in other car brands and even BMW models. At least it doesn’t rattle when driving, but I would appreciate a bit more quality heft.

The pre-LCI is like that also. It has been over 5 years and I still hate to open/close it because it feels so bad. I have never encountered one so cheap feeling in any other vehicle.

Thanks for the info. Would probably cost them $20 or less to make it more substantial. Everything else feels solid and is one of the reasons I went with BMW over other similarly priced cars, but anytime I reach into the glovebox I’m reminded of this one darn cheap decision!

However cheap the glovebox feels (and it does), to me the sun visors are way cheaper. Also flimsy and light, they sag and bounce when used on the side windows.

Ah sorry to hear that, sounds annoying for sure. My sun visors are thick and feel substanital to me, but I went with the Alcantara roof liner which also includes the visors so not sure if that’s why. I don’t use them on the side windows however.

What do you do when the sun is coming in strong from the side?

How about the plastic knobs to control the vents in the LCI, I hate touching them because they feel so cheap. I would have gladly paid an extra $12 for the vehicle to have higher quality knobs. The plastic covers on the lower half of the B pillar is another offender. Tap on it, sounds and feels so cheap. I’m nit picking but it’s strange how much they pinch pennies on certain parts. I ordered the alcantara headliner just to get the better feeling visors.

Quality feel and materials vary greatly with BMW depending on options.

24 X5M=hard plastic for the lower b-pillar. Things feel well screwed together but there are certainly some cheap bits sprinkled about.

Absolutely agree for the glovebox.
It’s cheap, small and unlike center console I didn’t find any after market solutions.
It has a strange format too. Took us several attempts to make a paper template. Once we had it, we cut leather to fit. Now at least stuff inside is not noisily rolling around.

For sure glove box is a down grade from my older BMW’s. My e46 and e39’s box feels heavy and dampend smoothly with “shock absorber” kind of thing in one side, it opens and close slower.

G05’s Sun visor isn’t too bad. It is more bouncy than my first bmw, but it maybe due the headliner. My e39 gas alcantara headliner and visor, feels nice yes, but after 20 years, color faded to purple-ish, which I don’t like.

I opted for the alcantara headliner…the sun visors are great! Odd thing to say, but probably some of the best sun visors I’ve had in a vehicle. Thick, have some heft, and definitely not at all flimsy.

I had an S580: The visor goes to the side, extends, and then there is a second visor living under the one you just moved to the side you can also open for coverage in front.

Lot of problems with the engineering in that car; wipers that scraped dry glass, poor shifting, etc. But the visors... Tip top. lol

I have 3 other than G05. 21 years old, 20 years old, 13 years old. Yeah, I have problems

By now, I am thinking two of them will go to my son and daughter when they are ready. They will be the only kids in their school that drive cars with 3 paddles.

Two of the most common things manufacturers always cut costs on are the sun visors and the glovebox door.
However, in my X5M, I find the alcantara sun visors and glove box door to feel pretty solid.

Same here. It seems after all it was good to add the Alcantara.

This is an item the wife originally didn’t want to make a check mark 😉

I'm sorry but this only makes me more angry. That they're only capable of putting decent visors on with that specific package and not on an otherwise loaded $82K vehicle.

Mine feel like they belong on a bottom end Hyundai.
