Suggested Destinations in iDrive

Every time I get in the car iDrive displays a “suggested destination” message which absolutely refuses to clear no matter what I do. It’s usually my home address, even if I’m parked in the driveway. I’ve tried every notification setting in iDrive, the BMW app and on CarPlay but nothing seems to work, including a hard reboot of iDrive.

In the past it’s popped these up from time to time but I’ve always been able to clear them until recently.

Anyone experienced the same, and can suggest how I might permanently delete this shite?

You need a Jag, mine puts up suggested commutes but they are sensible and I am sure they change according to time and day!

OK, after a frenzy of box ticking & unticking, and more time than is sensible trawling the forums for answers, I finally solved the issue - possibly sheer luck but I’ll take it.

Method is to shift up from the home menu and scroll to notifications, select the displayed message and press option, this allows you to delete that specific message or all messages. Hopefully all my other guddling around means there won’t be any other new messages…

This is the way I've been doing it for quite some time, but it does only delete the current, specific or all messages. It doesn't stop it happening next time you're out and about I'm afraid. So I have just got used to deleting the messages.

Speedski's solution looks promising. So I've done as he suggests and will see what happens over the next few days 🤞

I don’t know what idrive you have, I have 8, but the way I cleared it was in the My BMW app and changing the privacy settings. This also removed the logging of each of your trips.

I’m on iDrive 7

Speedski’s suggestion is one I’ve come across a few times, but I’ve never had “learn navigation” switched on, and it’s only relatively recently that these messages have started popping up. Maybe a “feature” of the most recent software update?

Hopefully cured, but if not at least I know how to delete them quickly now.

This the above is spot on ^^

Just looking at the BMW App for mine and I don't I don't have 'My Trips' activated but it says -

"To fully activate this option, please make sure that 'My Trips' is activated in your vehicles data privacy menu. You can deactivate it again in your vehicle at any time if you no longer wish to use it"

So seems it is a privacy thing, should be simples.... but guess not likely to be

Tesla is hopeless on this front. It just assumes I want to go to work, wherever I am and whatever day it is. Hit cancel, choose real destination. Yet never suggests I want to go home even when I get in the car parked at the office.

Maybe I've got a setting wrong. But my phone accurately predicts where I'm going (school runs, supermarkets, office) when it's any regular journey, why can't the car that runs similar tech.
