2022 BMW 228i XDrive Fog lights

Good afternoon everybody, so my 2022 BMW 228i gran coupe did not come with fog lights, I assume due to the chip shortage, I would like to add them in. Does anyone know if the wiring is there? I assume it should be, also I have found the parts, but it seems that the part number is the same for the G20 3 series. Has anyone retrofitted in fog lights, they came standard on the 2020 and a 2021 models and there is literally just a removable plastic clip where they should be on my 2022👌🙏💯

If you have LED headlamps then they are redundant anyway...

Oh yes I know the LED headlights are plenty bright, I just really liked having fog lights on my mini Cooper which I was coming from, they really provide a lot more visibility on the ground, and it seems like I’m always coming across pieces of this and that on the freeway that I have to dodge lol

I have found the fog lights on eBay, as well as the switch that has the button for the fog lights, also it seems that the part numbers and the fog lights look exactly the same that are on the G 20, which obviously are more readily available and cheaper because there were more made so I’m hoping I can do a retrofit, and have someone code it via Esys and my enet

It appears so, even stock a 228i had the fog lights, but mine in 2022 do not, and searching around some dealer inventory of cars identical to mine they do not have the fog lights which is a bummer. I don’t have the adaptive headlights but that shouldn’t matter because they came stock, it is not on my window sticker however, nor does it even say removed like it does for the digital key, and hands-free pop up trunk

Fog lights are not required with led headlights, it is because of the type of light emitted..

Hey thank you for the article very interesting, I’m not necessarily wanting the fog lights specifically for fog. I like the general appearance of them, but I do find greater visibility just in my daily driving conditions especially at night with foglights. I have had many cars with OEM LED headlights and the fog lights I have really helped me spot things in the road, from animals, to wallets, to metal and whatever else our California highways and streets seem to accumulate lol

In our country, the UK, it is against the law to use front fog in any other conditions aside when visibility is down to 100 metres (328 feet) or less but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves.
It is also considered to be a bit chavvy to have them on when not required.
Of course the laws in the US may be different..

Oh really that is interesting I had no idea, I don’t believe there are any laws about that here in the states, all the cars I’ve ever had you can definitely have them on at the same time. But I can totally understand that these days because especially here in the states everyone drives a freaking tall SUV and fog lights can be blinding, especially when people put aftermarket LED kits in.

I’ve always found it interesting that you guys have such a strict MOT, I know some states have inspection, but most don’t especially in California other than emissions. Half the cars on the road here wouldn’t pass inspection like your stringent standards if there were some LOL
