Otherwise, awesome runs! Really cool to see the top end versus that RS4.

At what mod level / with which mods do you recommend upgrading the DV's? I thought with stock turbos most people didn't need to? Or is that just with other tunes they don't, since the boost was at a certain max PSI?

If you're going to run Stage 2+, you should seriously consider upgrading your CP + DVs or switch to a BOV setup. Most people stick with the OEM bits until:
  • Something breaks/starts leaking
  • They upgrade to meth (requires a new CP)

Since lots of people run meth, it's common knowledge that they've switched out the OEM CP + DVs because it's required.

I'll be stage 2 soon, I am stock, and have bought catless DP's. I might get a DCI too, but a FMIC is probably a ways off.

So do you think I'd still need to upgrade my DV's with that setup (stage 2)?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. (Only replace the DV's if they are leaking)

You would most likely throw a code for underboost.

Boost related fault codes or a cracking noise when you actually break it

The OEM DVs/CP are both made from plastic, so if you really get on your car (especially if you track it), you should prob make the investment + ugprade

I do track it, but a few times a year I'd say. Haven't gotten any boost codes yet (crossing fingers), so maybe I'll wait and see.

I got a limp mode at the end of the first track day here a month ago though (code was gone when I went to review it) and got one at the end of the day last summer too. Because there was not a code in either situation, I've understood that most likely it was a misfire issue due to old plugs. I've not had a chance to swap the plugs yet though. And b/w last summer and this recent track day, I've probably put on 5,000 miles, so if the plugs had gotten a lot worse, I'd suspect I'd have gotten a limp mode earlier in the track day, but luckily didn't.
